DADYOU WERE
Dad, You Were…..
Dad, you were a police man
Proud, and firm, but fair
You always did your best
Those stories you did share
Dad, you cared for an orchard
Harvesting the fruit from tree to tree
Many hours of hard work
To care for my brother and me
Dad, you were a carpenter
Building so many fine things
Showing pride within your work
And the love and joy it brings
Dad, you were a truck driver
Driving from coast to coast
With a friendly smile on your face
For those you love the most
Dad, you were a father
The best that you could be
And even though we’re miles apart
I’ll always love you for an eternity
Written for my wonderful father-in-law David J. Shiever. Just hearing your voice on the phone is special to your son, and also to me. Thanks for sharing your comforting words of wisdom, love, and kindness. Somehow, I feel like I have known you a lifetime, and you are always carried in our hearts everyday! With all my love….Anne
