A compilation of different styles one expects to hear from the album of the band The Halyards. With “Forun Smiles”, the band wanted to put an exclamation point. For an album that claims to be successful in the field of Americana to do that is also very good. Especially the song “Earthbound” and “He’s Walking By” and “Lost in Mexico” reflect the skill of the band.

30 classic songs from the 40s and 50s on the Title “Cigarettes” is an unprecedented coupling with hillbilly and pop music with some extremely rare titles with original cigarette ads from the golden era of broadcasting and with illustrated information on how the social attitude to smoking compared has changed – since people smoke, they have also written songs about it. Few things have changed so dramatically since then, as our attitude towards smoking and smokers. These changes are in the unique combination of smoke or smoker songs. It is an amazing cross-section, the music comes mostly from the 40s and 50s, with an emphasis on hillbilly and pop. For the first time we meet Frank Sinatra, Rev. JM Gates and Little Jimmy Dickens on the same compilation. And not without reason, Patsy Cline and Homer and Jethro. And what they could combine all light cigarettes as from enjoy it to learn, such as smoking cigarettes and first as a sexy, sophistication, but were now considered somewhat less desirable. Only half a century ago was a cigarette the man into a cool, tough guy, and this attracted the ladies magnetically. And the women themselves smoking made them beautiful, mysterious creatures, if they smoke around her. Cigarettes once were lean times, romantic phallic symbols and are now seen as toxic, even lethal and they are often referred to as cancer stick. All this happened really fast, and there are still a lot of songs that were written. Of the 30 wonderful tracks, we have added classic cigarette ads from the golden age of radio. Not to forget 9 out of 10 doctors agree that smoking once is good …! After all, who wants to be super cool as John Wayne, Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra, creates the fastest with a pack of cigarettes in his hand. And the selected songs to prove this, many of the tracks are relatively rare, such as Peggy Lees original version of their classic “Do not Smoke In Bed” or the extraordinary 1939 recording of Rev. JM Gates sermon on the evils of women in the public puffing. This remarkable coupling also contains humorous and informative comments by the music historian Hank Davis about how the attitude has changed towards smoking, supplemented by carefully selected classic illustrations.

Bear Family Records released the first CD compilation of Roland Heinrich: “Waiting for the Train” The album closes for the artist, a circle that began with his solo work in 2003. — Roland had sent a demo to the Bear Family – as the artist for a live performance at the 30th Anniversary 2005. Richard Weize liked what he heard and suggested that Roland was to translate the yodeling Jimmie Rodgers-songs into German. This idea led to the Bear Family Album ” Lonely and Blue”. Songs of Jimmie Rodgers and for the concert at the Bear’s birthday party was also a green light. – At the same time sought the American director James Lyons, a musician who was capable in his new play ‘Johnny Cash: “The Beast In Me” to play the role of Jimmie Rodgers. They knew him to the Bear Family, and Richard Weize put you in touch with Roland Heinrich. The play ran successfully from 2004 to 2010 in Berlin and Bielefeld. Since August 2008, also as a musical guest performances of theater management Landgraf – with Roland as a musical director – under the title Johnny Cash “The Man In Black” in Germany and in German-speaking neighbors. That version won the 2009 Prize of the crossover INTHEGA. Overall, Roland has since 2004 in more than 200 performances the Jimmie Rodgers played and helped make the Blue Yodeler in Germany again known. – The cover of “Waiting for the train” Roland shows as ‘brakeman; in “The Man In Black”. The focus of the publication is on danceable grooves and entertainment. It presents some songs of the previous CD “Lonely and Blue” honky-tonk songs of Roland’s Lichterloh” CD (agro berlin) and an unreleased song by Jimmie-Rodgers session, for all that time was (For The Sake Of Days Gone By). There are also two popular cover songs from Henry’s current live show “Cowboy Jazz and tears” I run me a Wolf because of you (Walking The Floor Over You) and it is not good (Right or Wrong). – The impact on Texas “Waiting for the train” is remarkable: In addition to the Jimmie Rodgers-songs are musical tracks by the likes of Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb and Milton Brown recognizable. The laconic word games often resemble Eddie Noack, who is also mentioned in a song by name. All these musicians have passed through the Jimmie Rodgers-school. The circle would be without the influence of Johnny Cash, another admirer of the ‘Singing Brakeman’not quite closed. So on the CD and the previously unreleased trumpets boom-chicka-boom version of 400 kilometers. The CD is available exclusively through Bear Family Mail-order and after the performances of ‘Johnny Cash: The Man In Black’.

Pray The Clouds Away, 10. Let’s Part The Best Of Friends, 11. Talk To Your Heart, 12. He Is Near, 13. Rummie’s Run

“Cryin’ Heart Blues” is already a somewhat confusing title for an album that is pure Bluegrass. But Audie Blaylock And Redline halted, as so many bands before them simply uses a track from the album as an album title. And honestly, it’s one we really care but in the end is like the title of an album, as long as the music is good. And the music is good on the album by Audie Blaylock And Redline, easily said. Bluegrass Music is one of the few genres where it depends on the quality of the singers and musicians. The quality is reflected in all 13 songs.

He was a gifted songwriter with writing the notes of the songs, and could not even play an instrument. After a club gig, he wrote “See You Later, Alligator” and a record store owner played the song Len Chess of Chess Records before, gave the Charles contractwith the thought he was a black man. Although Bill Haley did Alligator and therefore had a bigger hit. They helped Charles in the title of his long career in which he also sang original version of “Do not You Know I Love You (You Know I Love You)”, for the Clarence ‘Frogman’ Henry, was a success and in Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump. – First published all Bear Family Chess Recordings by Bobby Charles. Hedy West And Bill Clfton

– Getting Folk Out Of The Country

Bear Family Records  BCD 16754 AH

1. Free Little Bird 2. Maid On The Shore 3. Whitehouse Blues 4. Little Sadie 5. Blow Ye Gentle Winds 6. Curley Headed Baby 7. S-A V-E D 8. Mary Of The Wildmoor 9. Mississippi Sawyer 10. Pictures From Life’s Other Side 11. Pity Me All Day 12. Angel Band

In the 70 years I have booked several American artists in the German folk clubs. Now for the 35th anniversary of Bear Family, I am sentimental and looking back on this days. The artists have included Bill Clifton, Hedy West, Bonnie Dobson, The Strange Creek Singers, Tracy and Eloise Schwarz, Bill Monroe, Ed McCurdy and more. Over the years, Bear Family’s Various productions of Hedy, Bill, Tracy & Eloise Schwarz has been published. Hedy produced for Bear Family LP by Ed McCurdy, which included his first composition, “Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream” sung by him.

In the years before the present anti-war song were interpreted by many other artists, including Pete Seeger and Johnny Cash. They was sung even in 1989 when during Berlin Wall. Ed, who observed the scene on television in Canada, called me and was very excited. In addition to the concerts of the German Bill Monroe (4-CD/1 DVD box), we published the complete studio recordings by Bill Monroe on CD. Several boxes including a fascinating hour of country music star, Walter Fuchs expresses. “Now it is to witness once again, of that memorable meeting of two legends: Hedy West and Bill Clifton, Hedy West, who died in 2005 and Bill Clifton, the 2008 was recorded in Nashville in the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, had 1972 in a studio in London taken to produce an album together. These photographs published in Folk Variety Richard Weize first and shortly afterwards on Bear Family”. The LP caused quite a stir in the scene. Yes, there was even talk of an extraordinary triumph for Country Music. Finally, both artists from every diverse walks of life and different music scenes, Bill Clifton came from the upper class, rather Hedy West from the working class. Both had enjoyed college education, and both are committed to the folklore of the underprivileged.

Hedy West composer, singer, banjo and guitar virtuoso was moving in the field of American folk songs. Bill Clifton a composer, singer and guitar and Autoharp virtuose for many years with great success led many a bluegrass band, such as the Dixie Mountain Boys. He also organized the first bluegrass festival”.

“In hindsight, it would combine the music of both under the name Singer/Songwriter or under Americana. This legendary album from 1974, two years previously recorded by a happy coincidence, now published with the original layout on a CD again. The voices and the instruments of the two actors are charming blend into a timeless work of art. The songs are mostly traditional such as “White House Blues”, “Curley Headed Baby” and “Pictures From Life’s Other Side”. The title ‘Angel Band’ both accompanied by Bill Clifton’s family. The music forces you to listen, it is simply “cool” the album is a must!”

Bill Kimbrough: Egg Head and Chantilly Lace Cha Cha 31. Gordon Ritter: Sweet Lips

The best tribute to the artist, who perished with Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens’ on “The Day The Music Died” With the unforgettable giant hit “Chantilly Lace”. With Big Boppers original version of “White Lightning”, hit by George Jones made a hit! The CD also contains extremely rare Big Bopper titles and Tribute and response songs by Eddie Cochran, the rockabilly legend Ray Campi and Jayne Mansfield (yes, from the Jayne Mansfield!) The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens in the same plane crash, post up to, then only, two hits. His tragic death on the day the music died provided both for his artistic immortality. And in fact, his career was much more interesting than the comparable one or two hit wonder. For example, he composed many hits. His own version of ‘White Lightning’ is included here (he wrote the track, which became the # 1 country hit for George Jones), also Johnny Preston’s # 1 pop hit “Running Bear” for never taking the credit.

Unfortunately, he has not seen how these songs were great successes. Of course, this well-featured CD “Bopper Satt” sent to him as his very first recording from 1954 (which was at that time unpublished). It is extremely rare early Rock n roll singles for Mercury. His original recording of “Chantilly Lace” and its original LP , but the offer is even greater: The Tribute and response songs including Eddie Cochran’s “Three Stars”, Ray Campi “The Man I Met” (A Tribute To The Big Bopper), Donna Dameron’s Bopper “486009” and even makes ‘Chantilly Lace’ derived by Jayne Mansfield. There are also rare in the booklet; unreleased photos from the estate of Big Boppers Family and the first comprehensive biography, written by Johnette Duff.

(DVD with 12-page booklet; DVD-pak; 30 tracks; total playing time: 92:03 min)

Running from 1952 until early 1961, The Town Hall Party was one of the first country music shows on tv. The stage of the theatre in Compton on the outskirts of LA looked like an old barn. This should create the same mood like in the live shows airing on radio three decades before. There was a highly reputable pool of west-coast artists including Joe Maphis, Merle Travis, Skeets McDonald, Johnny Bond and Tommy Duncan. The Town Hall Party had been hosted by Jay Stewart (who later hostet the tv quiz show ‘Let’s Make A Deal’) and Tex Ritter. The weekly show was frequented by top-class artists including Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Eddie Cochran, The Collins Kids, Freddie Hart, Wanda Jackson, George Jones, Merle Lindsay, Bob Luman, Carl Perkins, Jim Reeves, Marty Robbins, Hank Snow and Gene Vincent. – Now The Town Hall Party entered a new medium: Our series of dvd’s, started in 2002, includes perfomances of artists from different Town Hall Shows as well as complete various artists shows. Completely new remastered and with a colored booklet, the dvd’s warranty a perfect reproduction of the atmosphere, the artistic skills and the sound of this long gone age of country music.

The Lazy Boys – Shadows

Part Records

PART-CD 642.001

The latest album of „The Lazy Boys“ has been released on Part Records. Although it’s listet on country/americana, the energy of „The Lazy Boys“ (often with english adjustment on the boosters) follows the tradition of today’s lower broadway in Nashville more than the originally sound of the fifties. But because of the high number of self-penned tracks there’s no lack of authenticity. Even the coversongs get their own sound. „The Lazy Boys“ created their own unique sound during the last ten years. They always sound like themselves. This is the original meaning of the word ‘authentic“.

„Shadows“ focusses on the dark sides of life: lonelyness, unreturned love, break up, lack of responsibility and unrealizable dreams. Depressive contents, that perfectly reflect the Frank Miller recalling design of the album.

A hard contrast is the driving rhythm, creating a good mood despite of the dark contents. It should be mentioned that every single song of the album is danceable, which could be the reason, for the popularity of The Lazy Boys in german clubs and at internationale festivals.

The band consits of four memebers: Mirko Glaser (vocals, acoustic-guitar, writing), Johannes „Joe“ Gerstengarbe (electrical-guitar, vocals), „Hardworking“ Raoul Lesche (slap bass) and „DJ Devil“ Mario Wachsmann (drums). Together they have such a bold sound, that it’s hard to have the same experience with your stereo at home. Producer J. Gerstengarbe and co-producers M. Wachsmann and M. Glaser although managed it, that the cd got its own sound, not better or worse than the live shows – just different.

It is one of five songs, he added to this album. Everybody who loves good country music shouldn’t miss Marty Raybon “At His Best”.

Johnny Cash – American VI: Ain’t No Grave

Universal Music

1. Ain’t No Grave 2. Redemption Day 3. For The Good Times 4. I Corinthians 15:55 5. Can’t Help But Wonder Where I’m Bound 6. Satisfied Mind 7. I Don’t Hurt Anymore 8. Cool Water 9. Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream 10. Aloha Oe

This is the last act of the „Man in Black“. With “American VI: Ain’t No Grave” the last part of Johnny Cash’s American Recording Sessions had been released on February, 26th, 2010 – his 78th birthday. Like every other part of this series, Rick Rubin produced this album.

Johnny Cash penned more than 500 song during his career, sold more than 53 million albums and received 15 Grammys. The movie “Walk The Line” honored him as well as a legendary artist. “American VI: Ain’t No Grave”, the sixth and last part of his highly acclaimed American Recordings series, had been released on February, 26th 2010, the day, the “Man In Black” who passed away in 2003, would have celebrated his 78th birthday. Like every other part of this series, Rick Rubin produced this album.

The songs, that Cash reinterpreted on „American VI“ originated in very different ages of music history and combine a wide range of sound: the country music icon presents Sheryl Crow’s “Redemption Day” as well as “For The Good Times” of his buddy Kris Kristofferson, Tom Paxton’s “Can’t Help But Wonder Where I’m Bound”, Bob Nolans’ “Cool Water”, the the sanguine “Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream” of Ed McCurdy , “Satisfied Mind” of J.H. “Red” Hayes and Jack Rhodes, the farewell song of the last Hawaiian Queen Lili’uokalani “Aloha Oe” and the yet unreleased self-penned „I Corinthians: 15:55“, written during his last three years.

Between finishing „American IV: The Man Comes Around“ and the death of Johnny Cash on September, 12th, 2003, Rick Rubin recorded a lot of songs. The 2006 album “American V: A Hundred Highways” already contained some of them. “American VI: Ain’t No Grave” completes the series, that had begun with the 1994 album “American Recordings”.

Darren Beachley & Legends Of The Potomac – Take Off

Patuxent Music

Other Side of Lonely * Last Ride * Jenny * How Could I Love Her So Much * Tall Weeds and Rust * Quicksand * You’ll Forget * Love You Don’t Know * Leavin’ and Sayin’ Goodbye * Miss You Mississippi * More Than I Can Bear * (You Could Always) Come Back * I’ll Lover You Forever and Ever * Lightning Rod

Darren Beachley & Legens Of The Potomac have already been a few years on the road. It’s not a so-called boy-band – the five members (Darren Beachley, Mike Auldridge, Tom Gray, Norman Wright, Mark Delaney) are best-aged men. But assuming, the band is originated in the South is wrong. Their home is Washington, where a lot of stories about bluegrass bands started. With this all is said or witten. Once you surrender to the music of Darren Beachley & Legens Of The Potomac, this 14 songs are not enough and you will long to experience the band live.

The flagship of German country music, Tom Astor, released with “Pure Life” another album. We will not raise the question, Whether better country music should be sung in English. But it’s a fact, that good country albums are made in Nashville, TN. At Tom Astor frequently heads there to record his albums. Outstanding songs on this one are “Oh Susanna”, “On the Highway” and the duet “When it comes down to us (it’s all up to you)”

30 classical cigarette-songs of the 40’s and 50’s – a unique connection between Hilly-billy and pop music with some extremely rare tracks of cigarette commercials from the Golden Age of Radio, with additional pictured information about how the society’s attitude changed – Ever since mankind smokes about that songs have been written and sung.

Since that only a few things have changed that dramatically, like our attitude for smoking and smokers. This sampler shows these changes. It’s a stunning profile, most of the music dates back to the 40’s and 50’s with a highlight on Hilly-billy and pop. Frank Sinatra, Rev.J.M. Gates and Little Jimmy Dickens are together on one compilation for the first time. And for one reason there are even Patsy Cline and Homer & Jethro – what could connect all of them better than cigarettes? – Enjoy the trip through time, when smoking was first supposed to be sexy and sophisticated, but now not so worthwhile.

Just 50 years ago women, a cigarette made a man a cool guy, what attracted him to. Smoking women were lovely, mysterious characters surrounded by smoke. Once being a slender, romantic phallic symbol, now they are considered to be toxic, even life-Endangering. There are many songs showing this rapid change. We added classical cigarette commercials from the Golden Age of Radio to these 30 wonderful songs. Do not forget: 9 of 10 doctors agree, that smoking is good …! Because if you want to be super cool like John Wayne, Marlon Brando or Frank Sinatra, you only need a pack of cigarettes. And these songs that prove. Many of these tracks are very rare, like Peggy Lee’s original version of the classic “Do not smoke in bed.” Or the unique recording of 1939 Rev.J.M. Gates’ sermon evil of women smoking in public. This sampler contains remakable humorous and educational information from Hank Davis about the changing attitude, completed with classical images.

Bear Family Records releases the first compilation of Roland Heinrich: “Waiting for the train”. With this compilation is closing a circle for the artist, who had started with is solo-work in 2003. Back then he had sent a demo to Bear Family – at application for a live performance at the company’s 30th anniversary in 2005. Richard Weize, the label’s president, like what he heard and he suggested, Roland should translate his songs into yodeled Jimmie Rodgers German. This way the Bear Family album, “Lonely and thwarted: Songs of Jimmie Rodgers’ Arose. And he was part of the Bear birthday party. At the same time the American director James Lyons was looking for a musician, who was able to play Jimmie Rodgers in his brand new play “Johnny Cash – The Beast in Me”. He was Referred to Bear Family and Richard Weize made the contact to Roland Heinrich. The play ran successfully from 2004-2010 in Berlin and Bielefeld. Starting in 2008 the performance toured with the title “Johnny Cash: The Man in Black” through Germany and other German speaking countries. Roland Heinrich is the musical director. This version had won the INTHEGA crossover award in 2009. With his more than 200 appearances as Jimmie Rodgers since 2004, Roland helped to reintroduce the Blue Yodeler in Germany. Roland can be seen as brakeman in The Man in Black on the cover of “Waiting for the train”. The releases focus is on danceable grooves and entertainment. It also presents some songs of the previous CD, “Lonely and slowed down,” honky tonk songs of Roland’s CD “Lichterloh” (agro berlin) and a yet unreleased song of the Jimmie Rodgers session “For everything that was once (For the sake of days gone by). Additional there are two popular cover-songs of Henry’s actual live program “Cowboy Jazz and tears puller”: “I run my ‘Wolf NEN because of you (Walking the floor over you)” and “It is not good (Wright or Wrong).” – The Texan influence to “Waiting for the train” is remarkable. Along with the Jimmie Rodgers songs you can find traces of legends like Bob Wills, Ernest Tubb and Milton Brown. He often plays with words like Eddie Noack, who is named in one song. All of these musicians went through Jimmie Rodgers school. But one is still missing in the tablet of fans of the “Singing Brakeman” Johnny Cash. So you can find on this CD a yet unreleased trumpet-boom-chicka-boom version of “400 km to food”. The CD can be purchased by mail order or Bear Family after the show “Johnny Cash: The Man in Black”

A Russian Twist

T.K. Richardson’s novel, Return The Heart coincides with the release of the USA’s Report on Adherence and Compliance with Arms Control, Nonproliferation, and Disarmament Agreements and Commitments which states that Russia has violated the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.
Although Return The Heart is a work of fiction it touches on some of Russia’s rich history which includes ancient familys, some of which have forgotten the ancient values.  Lilly, the main character, has a special gift of being able to read people’s hearts which places her and her new friends on an underground auction which Russian crime bosses have to outbid each other to win.
On Lilly’s journey she meets four new friends that have the same type of abilities which all five of them will have to combine to bring the crime bosses down and get their lives back to normal.  Lilly, Seth, Claire, Kyle and Andrew realize that they will have to take on the crime bosses with no experience and no help while still keeping their abilities a secret.  The group bans together as they unfold layer after layer of information which they will need to piece together before they can get back to having fun and enjoying high school life. The group has to navigate their way through exciting and dangerous situations as the plot to capture them unfolds frighteningly quickly.  Lilly and the group will have a reader captivated from the very first page, keep the reader curious right to the end, and have the reader living each experience as if it was real.
T.K. Richardson has the very rare ability of being able to captivate the reader’s interest while leading them down a path filled with emotion, love, friendship and adventure.  With every turn of the page Richardson takes the reader deeper into the exhilarating and sometimes confusing emotions that Lilly experiences while trying to decipher who to trust and who to love.
While learning how to use their abilities together, the group uncovers many secrets buried deep within ancient Russian history and realizes how that history is about to be destroyed by unscrupulous politicians.  The CIA and Russian’s have to start working together to orchestrate a rescue attempt across borders that will ensure that the group is moved to a safer place and to keep everyone safe in the future.  The group meets very powerful Russian politicians, including the future president of Russia, who will need all five of their abilities to ensure that Russia falls into the hands of a leader with a good heart.  While the CIA fights an endless war against crime bosses, Lilly and the group use their abilities and their new found knowledge to bring corrupt politicians straight to the CIA’s door.
As an author, T.K. Richardson’s passion and emotion for Russia and her children shine through to her writing.  Her uncanny way of using descriptions of emotions will make the readers heart beat faster, cry tears of joy, and chest fill with a sense of belonging.  Return The Heart is truly an expression of feelings most people have yet to uncover.

In The Arena with Frank Arena – Volume 2
Saliva and Puddle of Mudd – Kansas City Missouri

Small venues for National Acts are usually a recipe for disaster, much less when you put two of them in the same house along with an opening act.  This is exactly the scenario I imagined with I heard Shaman’s Harvest out of Jefferson City, MO was opening for Saliva and Puddle of Mudd at the Beaumont Club in Kansas City, MO on July 1st, 2010.

Due to the invite to have dinner with Saliva and Puddle of Mudd to start the night at a restaurant in North Kansas City, we totally missed the entire set of Shaman’s Harvest ourselves.  We did not arrive at the Beaumont Club until right when they were pulling the equipment out the back door for the Opening Act.  Talking to several people in the venue, not one person had a bad thing to say about Shaman’s Harvest and all said they brought the rock and hard.  This was the only disappointing thing of the evening, as I really wanted to check out this band and they do not make it to Northern Missouri very often.

Saliva was the second band to embrace the small stage.  Set up directly in front of the headliners equipment (Puddle of Mudd) the stage was very limited as to what room Saliva had to maneuver.  This did not stop the band from constant movement, CD quality sound from all members of the band including the vocalist, and a outright great set list that was put together ending with “Ladies and Gentlemen”.   Josey Scott is a big man, that when you look at him you would never imagine the talent the guy has for vocals, not to mention how limber he can become on stage.  Paul Crosby on drums reminds me of some of the top drummers in the rock business in being able to entertain without saying a word, and almost having his own show in the kit.  My only disappointment was I have not been able to see Saliva before this show as I am a Saliva fan myself, but only listened to them on the radio and on CD’s.  Seeing them live brings a whole new respect forward for the quality they strive for not only in recording, but live also.  Saliva will be returning to Kansas City in September, and I will definitely be taking up Paul’s offer to come and hang out with them again.  Off the stage, this bands attitude is among the best in the business, and probably the single most down to earth group I have ever had the pleasure of talking with.  All of them treated everyone around them like they were friends for a lifetime, and did not hesitate to sign autographs, take pictures, and just be part of the crowd after their performance.

Puddle of Mudd

Last, show headliners Puddle of Mudd took the stage.  When I last saw them perform live, they were on tour with Rev Theory and you could have flipped a coin on who put up the better performance at the end of the night.  This time, even though Saliva had a great show, there is no question Puddle of Mudd brought the better performance and energy to the crowd.  From the word go and the start of opening the set with “Stoned”, they rocked the stage and every inch it had to offer.  They had a constant stream of crowd surfers, included one lady that had to be every bit of three bills fifty floating over the crowd.  Wes Scantlin’s voice was right on key all night long, and I do not know of one note that was played wrong, or one beat missed.  Maybe it was the smaller venue than the last performance, but the energy in the room was easily in the top 5 of all the concerts I have attended.

Getting deeper into their set, I was not sure how they were going to continue to raise the bar to the show as it did not seem possible.  As the band left the stage after playing a cover of AC/DC’s “TNT”, it was obvious there was going to be an encore no matter what happened, and Wes exited stage right directly to a wall in between equipment instead of behind the curtain where the dressing rooms were, or out the door to the busses.  In obvious fashion, music started again, and it was “Psycho”.  Not so obvious is it was 14 year old Jordan Scantlin, Wes’s son, playing the guitar and walking out on stage.  The place erupted into the loudest roar I have heard at a concert since Ted Nugent at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Jordan continued playing with the band through the last 4 songs, including another cover mixed into “She Hates Me” which Jordan played the guitar to completely solo.  Wes, not even holding a guitar (as any Puddle of Mudd fan knows is VERY rare) sang until he threw the microphone over the rafters in the ceiling, creating a rope out of his microphone cable, and proceeded to swing semi-successfully from side to side of the stage before climbing the drum set and attempting a swing outward toward the crowd.  This was the scary swing as gravity won the battle and pulled Wes directly into the stage and a very high rate of speed.

After getting up uninjured, the song was completed and the show was completed in true rock star appeal to every fan in the place.  Equipment was thrown and broken, a microphone stand was thrown into the drums, and a guitar pedal assembly was launched into the rafters, and that microphone still hanging from the rafters was blasted repeatedly into the ground.

Overall there could not have been a better show put together especially for a 1400 person venue.  The entertainment value provided was way above the $25 per ticket price, and it is highly recommended that you catch this lineup as it comes to a city near you soon.

Among the game’s endless highlights are original and 8-bit remixes of Linkin Park tracks including “New Divide,” “One Step Closer,” “In The End,” “Crawling,” “QWERTY,” “Hands Held High,” “Faint,” and “No More Sorrow.” This marks the first time that Linkin Park’s music has been reinterpreted using old-school video game sounds. The game, which also includes original artwork by the band, opens with “One Step Closer” sounding like it was coming out of a first-generation NES.
Additional game features include:
  • Personalization of players’ avatars and apartments provide a unique community experience
  • Non-player characters (NPCs) inhabit the world, adding drama to the gaming experience
  • Shopping for virtual items with coins awarded by winning fights and completing missions
  • Earning trophies for adding friends to the rebellion
  • A news feed to stay up-to-date with Linkin Park
  • Facebook and Twitter integration connecting millions of social network users worldwide
The iPad app features include:
  • Enhanced graphics to allow players to see their avatars and the six districts come to life in great detail
  • Optimized user interface for the larger screen makes menu items easy to access at all times: equip weapons and change music tracks without ever leaving the main screen.
  • Multiple controls so gamers can choose between two control schemes to best fit their playing styles. The iPad-specific D-pad setup has been implemented for players more comfortable with button-oriented controls.
“As opposed to putting together an app featuring just our songs and name, we wanted to make this an exciting gaming and music experience and the folks at Artificial Life shared that vision,” says Shinoda. “They were able to turn my sketches and our creative ideas into a living, breathing world that we think gamers and fans will thoroughly enjoy.”

Los Angeles, CA (May 10, 2010) - Three-time Grammy nominees STONE SOUR have revealed that Audio Secrecy will be the title of their highly anticipated new album, which is slated for release later this summer. The band and producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Rush) are currently holed away at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, where they’re putting finishing touches on the much-buzzed-about record.

Audio Secrecy is the summation of everything we want, everything we crave and everything we fight for,” says lead singer Corey Taylor. “The dimensions go further than anything we’ve ever tried before. It’s metal, rock, slow, soft, hard, fast, bitter, beautiful and most importantly, it’s REAL. You can’t get an album like this out of a band that doesn’t exist. We’re throwing caution out the damn window.”

The band (vocalist Corey Taylor, guitarists James Root and Josh Rand, bassist Shawn Economaki and drummer Roy Mayorga) will be previewing select songs from Audio Secrecy during their performances on this summer¹s Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. The 36-date tour launches August 17 in Minneapolis, MN and will visit arenas and amphitheatres across North America before wrapping October 4 in Madison, WI.  Tickets for Uproar go on sale Saturday, May 15 in select markets and are available via and .

Audio Secrecy is the follow-up to the gold-certified Come What(ever) May, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and spawned three radio hits: “Sillyworld,” “Made of Scars,” and the No. 1 smash hit single “Through Glass.” Revolver magazine gave the disc four stars and praised the quintet for “demonstrating a dynamic range equaled by few of their peers.” Billboard hailed the record as “an intense, taut piece of work,” and Alternative Press called the group “masters of ass-kicking,” adding, “In a better America, Stone Sour would be the face of American rock.”  Stone Sour’s self-titled debut, also certified gold, spawned the band’s first breakthrough hit “Bother,” which was spotlighted on Spider-Man soundtrack.
