VIRTUAL PREVIEW OF ALL THE FUN OF THE KANSAS STATE FAIR
Posted by: | CommentsVIRTUAL PREVIEW OF ALL THE FUN OF THE KANSAS STATE FAIR
School has started, the temperatures are cooling, and September is approaching. This means The Kansas State Fair is just around the corner! Get your virtual preview of this year’s Sheep Thrills, fun foods and agricultural activities at the 2010 Kansas State Fair Pre-Show. The event will be held Thursday, Sept. 2 at 10 a.m., viewable either in person or online.
The Pre-Show is open to the public, and fair representatives encourage individuals to “tweet” their questions to hosts “Jennifer & Cody” using Twitter (@kansasstatefair). There are two options to join the Pre-Show: You may watch via UStream on the Internet or join the fair in the live audience at the event held at the stage at Agriland on the fairgrounds.
Kansas State Fair General Manager Denny Stoecklein, Jennifer and Cody – as well as a couple special guests – will make sure you’re in-the-know about this year’s not-to-miss events and returning favorites. Audience members who ask a question and web viewers who tweet a question will be entered into a drawing for two 2010 Sprint Grandstand concert tickets of choice.
Joining Via UStream
If you will be joining via UStream, please go to http://www.ustream.tv/user/kansasstatefair at the time of the Pre-Show.
Joining In Person
The Kansas State Fair Pre-Show will be held at Agriland in the Pride of Kansas Building on the fairgrounds. From Main Street in Hutchinson, you may enter the fairgrounds at gate 1 at 20th and Poplar Street and park south of the Pride of Kansas Building.

Loverboy replacing Howie Mandel in Kansas State Fair line-up
Posted by: | CommentsLoverboy replacing Howie Mandel in Kansas State Fair line-up
New change to Kansas State Fair Line-up:
The Kansas State Fair announced today, Aug 27th Howie Mandel will be unable to perform at the Kansas State Fair due to a change in his television filming schedule. The Fair has secured the classic rock act Loverboy (“Working for the Weekend”, “Almost Paradise”, “Turn Me Loose”) to fill the Thursday, Sept. 16 date, and the Loverboy concert will be free for all fairgoers with a paid outside gate admission to the Fair. For more information on Loverboy, please see biography below.
Loverboy – Thursday, Sept. 16 – FREE concert
Loverboy formed in Toronto, Canada, in 1980 with band members Mike Reno, vocalist; Paul Dean, guitarist; Scott Smith, bassist; Doug Johnson, keyboardist; and Matthew Frenette, drummer. Later that same year and with the help of producer Bruce Fairbairn, Loverboy released its self-titled debut album. The album went platinum in both Canada and America and featured the hard-rocking singles “Turn Me Loose” and “The Kid is Hot Tonight.” Its follow-up album, Get Lucky, was released in 1981 and included the anthemic “Working for the Weekend.” Loverboy’s 1983 release, Keep It Up, featured the hit single “Hot Girls in Love.” In 1985, the group released Lovin’ Every Minute of It with producer Tom Allom (Judas Priest). Allom gave the band a harder edge on this platinum album. Fairbairn returned as the producer for the group’s fifth album, Wildside, which was released in 1987. After a two-year tour, the band returned to Canada to release in 1989 its greatest hits album, Big Ones. That same year, Reno and Dean announced plans to make solo records, which put an end to the group. The reunited lineup returned in 1997 to release the album Loverboy XI. Most recently, the band released their greatest hits album, The Real Thing, in 2009. For more information on Loverboy, please visit www.loverboyband.com.
