Afresh: What is your name, and name your group/band/act?

Our band is called TORMENTED and we are a 3 piece band.

-Brad “Madman” is the manager and guitarist and vocals

-Ward “Captain” is the bass player and vocals

-Josh “Doc” is the drummer

Afresh: Where are the artists from?  What is their talent in the group?

The band is based out of Wichita Kansas.

-I (Brad) am originally from California

-Ward is originally from Texas

-Josh is originally from Kansas

Afresh: How did the band get the name?

We started out as a different 3 piece band with a different drummer. The band was doing extremely well when we lost our drummer due to personal reasons. It took us several months to find a new drummer and it was extremely tormenting for us. So they name just seemed to fit.

Afresh: What instrument do you play now? (If applicable)

-I manage the band and play guitarist and sing both lead and background

-Ward plays the bass player and sings lead and background vocals

-Josh beats on the drummer

Afresh: What (who) does your act/art consist of?

A high energy rock band!.

Afresh: How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?

We are currently a “cover band” playing music from the mid- 60’s (like Badfinger and Deep Purple) to today’s rock (like Metallica and Distrurbed). However, we are starting to work and incorporate original music into our set lists.

Afresh: Give me some details about the group/act/art?

We believe that people that go out to see live bands don’t go out just to listen to music. If that were the case, they could listen to the juke box. They want to be entertained. So we work hard to provide both entertainment and great music.

Afresh: How long have you been performing live or making art?

Ward and I have been together as a band for almost 2 years with Josh as the newest addition for close to 2 months.

Afresh: Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?

Ward and I meet through our original drummer from our previous group. After loosing our drummer, we posted an ad on Craig’s List and found Josh.

Afresh: What has been the biggest challenge for you or the group?

Time. Not enough time and too much music-LOL

Afresh: You’ve heard of the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?

We push through them. Like everyone, we get discouraged, but don’t dwell upon it. When we get knocked down, we jump back up and go after it again.

Afresh:  Do you feel the economic crunch has hurt the industry, or do you have some other promotional tips to help support your music?

Absolutely. As the economy suffers, more establishments are going out of business or they are not hiring live entertainment. So it’s tough sometimes finding venues to play.

Afresh: Art & Music has an impact on both young and old.  Everyone loves a celebrity, so what advice do you have for the youth of today?

Never give up your dreams. If you want to do or be something, go develop a plan and go after it with all of your being. Never settle because the road is too hard. If your priorities change, that’s cool. But if deep down, you still desire those dreams from your youth, stick with it.

Afresh: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?

We would be “nowhere” without the strong support of our families. They encourage and support us in ways that only strengthen our desires to follow our dreams and love for music.

Afresh: Have you ever had any strange or stalker type fans that you are aware of?

No Comment-LOL

Afresh: While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans who snuck in to the dressing room/rehearsal?

No, but we have had interruptions during a few shows.

Afresh: What has been the worst nightmare for the group?  How did you get through it all?

Losing our drummer and having to find another one that not only could play, but fit “personality” wise with Ward and I..

Afresh: What are your up-to-date performance plans?  New releases?  Tours? News?

Our biggest plans right now include writing and producing our first CD together and to perform live as much as possible.

Afresh: If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)

For myself there is no doubt that it would be Randy Rhoads. To me, he’s one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived. Need I say more-LOL.

Afresh: What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?

That’s tough, as we perform most of our shows “out of town”. Can’t really say.

Afresh:  How do you feel about file swapping?

Actually, that does really bother me. In fact, if people are/where to share our music with each other, I think that would be awesome. To me/us, it’s like having your music played on the radio. You can’t buy advertisement like that. Besides, most of the money made from CD’s produced are the Record Labels and not the artist. The artist make their money from performing live. So the more people familiar with us and our music, the more fans we will have and the more that will attend our shows.

Afresh: Have you been involved in any benefit performances?  What was it and how did you become involved?

Absolutely. We are strong believers in giving back to those that support us. We’ve performed events from the Veteran’s Reunion at El Dorado lake Kansas to a fund raiser for a local family who lost everything in a house fire. We are working with an organization right now that”helps those who can’t help themselves.” So yes, we definitely believe in benefit concerts and helping out our communities as we can.

Afresh: Do you currently have an agent, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.?

No we do not. But we are always open to listen and discuss it.

Afresh: Is this your first interview or do you have some other articles/stories about you posted somewhere for public viewing?

This is our first interview as Tormented.

Afresh: Do you have any video links where people can see you?

Yes we have one live video on our website at www.myspace.com/tormentedrockband

Afresh: Do you have a website of any type?  (Name all options)

Same as above

Afresh: Please feel free to add any other information you want to share with the public audience/readers.  We want to extend our warm wishes for your success and thank you for the awesome interview.  We hope we can attend one of your shows soon so keep us informed on your updates!

Music brings people all ages together, and sometimes people call it the center to the soul for “WHEN WORDS SPEAK IN A WHISPER, MUSIC SPEAKS LOUD AND PROUD!!!”
