Afresh: What is your name, and name your group/band/act?

My name is Tyler and my band’s name is To Die With Taste

Afresh: Where are the artists from?  What is their talent in the group?

Eliot Bloecker is from Tennessee and plays lead guitar

Sean Rocovitz is from California and plays drums

Derrek Durna is from Hawaii and plays second guitar

Ramon Barnett is from Nevada and plays bass

Tyler W.T. is from Nevada and does vocals

Afresh: How did the band get the name?

We’ll I was thinking about a band name and thought about my initials which are TDWT. I decided to create and acronym and it was To Die With Taste

Afresh: What instrument do you play now? (If applicable)

I still sing

Afresh: What (who) does your act/art consist of?

We just play music

Afresh: How would you describe your music for the public audience if they have never seen you before?

We get crazy on stage and love breakdowns

Afresh: Give me some details about the group?

We’re probably the most underrated band in Vegas due to the fact we made enemies that spread rumors and lies, but we have a lot of loyal fans. We have been on two record labels unofficially and are releasing an album by ourselves in June.

Afresh: How long have you been performing live?

September 1st 2009

Afresh: Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?

I met Sean at school and when we wanted a guitarist Sean called his friend Eliot who came to practice and we made our first song ever entitled “The Woods”.  Eliot then called his friend Evan who then came to one of our practices and he fit playing his bass. After a couple of shows we decided to get a second guitarist to sound “full”. We posted bulletins on myspace and Derrek replied saying he would be down to fill in the position. He came to a practice and learned half our songs in one day. He was in the same day. Then we started to notice that Evan wanted to chase other things in life and decided we had to let him go. I then remembered that my friend Ramon played guitar in a different band but they wern’t serious. I asked him to play bass and he agreed. He came over and learned everything in one day.

Afresh: What has been the biggest challenge for you or the group?

Transportation. None of us used to drive or even have cars. We would always arrive at different times, which wasn’t good for the venues because it messed up the load-in times. But we are finally driving and everything is good now!

Afresh: You’ve heard of the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?

Well we all still live at home with the parents, due to the fact we are a very young band. Ages 16-18. So really the only things we have had to sacrifice are relationships. It sucks but you got to do what you got to do in order to achieve your dream.

Afresh:  Do you feel the economic crunch has hurt the industry, or do you have some other promotional tips to help support your music?

Well it really hasn’t affected us besides gas money. We have a manager who takes care of us, and parents that always help us out when we need to get things done. It has however affected online things. Such as iTunes myspace’s and cost of  promotion on websites. Since we have our manager take care of these things we have no worries.

Afresh: Music has an impact on both young and old.  Everyone loves a celebrity, so what advice do you have for the youth of today?

I’d like to say that if you have a dream than don’t ever let go of it. You chase that dream, until you finally catch it. I’m living my dream right now and I must say that these past years have been amazing and I look forward to an amazing future with my band.

Afresh: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?

Hahaha, my parents especially my mom, hate this music. But they understand that this is what i want to do and they support me 100%. They love seeing me on stage, and think this is a great outlet for me.

Afresh: What is your stance on how to get the public to support “live music” and see the shows?  Any ideas???

Well first and foremost, YOU MUST SOUND GOOD LIVE. If you suck live then no one is going to want to see you. Plain and simple. Second, you have to be “that band” that does crazy off the wall stuff so you can get everyone talking about what a crazy show they saw and that your band was absolutely crazy but in a good way. Then people will want to come see you.

Afresh: Thinking back, did your family carry on the same musical interests?

Not one bit. haha

Afresh: Do you have your own favorite type of music and is it any different from what you play now?

I seriously like everything. I listen to Never Shout Never one day and them i’ll switch over to Chelsea Grin. All types of music deserve respect, except rap. I despise rap. And some country is lame too. But some of it sounds good as well.

Afresh: Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share with us?

I’m a major nerd and don’t really have a life. All I really do is write music, chill with my girlfriend, practice with my band, and play video games.

Afresh: What has been your strong influence to continue performing?

I’m going to have to say all the haters we have. They say we can’t do it, or we suck and no one likes us. I love to prove people wrong. So yeah they drive me to keep going.

Afresh: Does anyone in particular influence your musical talent?

I wish I could say someone does but no.

Afresh: Who does most of the song writing/art/literature?

I do. I write a lot.

Afresh: If you had to change one thing about your music what do you feel would be the best change to benefit the group overall and why?

If I had to I guess I would make the bass more technical. It’s relatively easy right now and i bet if we made it harder to do our band would sound better.

Afresh: Have you ever had any strange or stalker type fans that you are aware of?

Oh My God. We could most certainly name a few. hahaha

Afresh: While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans who snuck in to the rehearsal?

Well our girlfriends will occasionally come in to give us a kiss and wish us luck but other than that not at all.

Afresh: Tell us about your most embarrassing moment if you care to share it with us?

Hahahahaha. I had to miss a show once and our friend Chad filled in for me and I heard he messed up an entire song. Like really? How is that even possible. And once I got a bloody nose on stage and I had my friend come up to sing with me and he told the audience to get me a tampon. haha

Afresh: What has been the most bizarre thing (thrown) on the stage with you?  How did you react?

No one has thrown anything at us thankfully 😀

Afresh: What is your wildest story with the group?

Everything has been pretty A okay with us. Nothing really wild except when we almost broke our friends $1,000+ amp. IT dropped in the beck of our truck and we were praying it didn’t break! It didn’t though s it’s all good.

Afresh: What has been the worst nightmare for the group?  How did you get through it all?

Probably when I almost left the band. That was really bad. Well i came back and we all made up! That’s what best friends do<3

Afresh: What are your up-to-date performance plans?  New releases?  Tours? News?

We have our first out of town show in July which is sick cause we have never left Vegas to play a show! We have our first full-length album being released this Summer as well which is really dope because a lot of people havn’t heard our new sound. And we hope to tour for 10 days this summer! That’ would be sick!

Afresh: If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)

If it was me personally i would choose Chelsea Grin, Attila, and Parkway Drive. That would be the sickest show ever. My three favorite bands.  Now if the band had to pick it would be Chelsea Grin, The Beatles, and AC/DC. We love old school rock ‘n’ roll and this would probably be the biggest concert in human history.

Afresh: What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?

N. Las Vegas. Area 702 Skate Park. We do have a show in Cali this Summer though which is sick!

Afresh:  How do you feel about file swapping?

I think it’s fine. Anyway to get your name out there you know?!?! Yeah bands lose money but it will be worth it in the end!

Afresh: Have you been involved in any benefit performances?  What was it and how did you become involved?

Unfortunately we have not. We wish though. We want to give back to the world and the people.

Afresh: Do you currently have an agent, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.?

Our booking agent/ manager is Andrew Weiss of The Manic Group. That guy is a freaking beast. We are also endorsed by Lucky Cat Tatoo and Ghostwork Ink Printing.

Afresh: Is this your first interview or do you have some other articles/stories about you posted somewhere for public viewing?

We have another review of our EP at

Afresh: Do you have any video links where people can see you?

Go to youtube and type in To Die With Taste! One of the videos is really bad though. It’s the one were im wearing a white jacket. That was one day after i had surgery done. We were really bad that night.

Afresh: Do you have a website of any type?  (Name all options)

Afresh, Thank you so much to all of our fans for being so loyal and loving to us. We appreciate it so much. You people honestly don’t understand but we have the best fans around. Also, album release is sometime in June. Thank you for letting us cover a lot of our story AFresh . We love you!
