THE FABULOUS MISS WENDY!  OCTOBER NEWS

Hello Fabulous People,

I just finished my first national tour!!! Played almost 100 shows since March 15th all over the the USA. Lot’s to catch up on!!!  If you want more just sign up to my Facebook or MySpace below…

I wanted to let you know that I’m going to be doing my first headline tour this November! As soon as the shows are confirmed I’ll send them to you to see if I’m coming back to your town.

I’m currently recording my new album in Detroit with Vinnie from Sponge on drums(yes, he’s fronting Sponge, but he’s a bad ass drummer too!) and Tim Patalan(produced those big Sponge hits&plays bass for Sponge and on the album we are making together). Tim also produced the latest Taproot record! Those guys are co-producing along with Tom Zutaut(who worked in the studio with lots of great rock and roll bands). I’m having the time of my life makin’ this fuckin’ record and I can’t wait to play it for you when it’s done. It’ll be more like the live show you witnessed than the cd I sold you after the show or tried to sell you! I’m glad that so many of you have found me on the internet and told me how much you enjoyed my concert, the cd you bought or downloaded from Itunes, or the moment we spent hanging out after the show.

At the bottom of this e-mail I’m gonna post all the links where you can buy my music and all my official social networking places on the net so if you haven’t signed up you can pick the ones you use the most. But first I want to share a  couple of links to some recent awesome events.

Hot Topic recently used my Acoustic and thus very Mellow song “I like Boys” in a new campaign they are running for their new clothing design. They are also re-modeling some of their stores and have asked me to perform at their first newly designed store in Santa Monica California. You may have heard the song in a movie or TV show but not known it’s the same girl who rocked your ass off live as it has been used in many different programs.Hot Topic video link:

I recently performed at a red carpet event in Hollywood for Girls&Corpses Magazine where they premiered an animated video of my song  “Crazy Fucked Up Bitch”. I perform with a bunch of skeletons! It’s not exactly Saturday morning kids entertainment but It’s really cool so here’s a link for you to see it!

THE FABULOUS MISS WENDY

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on THE FABULOUS MISS WENDY

Afresh: What is the name of your band? My name is Wendy and my band is called “The Fabulous Miss Wendy”.

Afresh: Where are the band members from? We are a 3 piece band from Los Angeles, I play lead guitar and sing, Brian Beckman plays bass, and Chelsea Bangs plays drums.

Afresh: How would you describe your music to someone who has not heard you play before? We are a hard-rock punk guitar driven band.  A lot of people compare my guitar playing to Marc Bolan, Jeff Beck, and Jimi Hendrix.

Afresh: Give us some details about the group. The Fabulous Miss Wendy started out as a recording project and I didn’t have a live band.  I made a few demos then a record.  The bass player from Devo produced it and Josh Freese played on it.

Through Myspace and Kim Fowley’s endorsement my record got radio airplay on Sirius Satelite Radio, KROQ, Indie 1031, and The Monkey in Seattle.  It also got a bunch of airplay on internet radio and podcasts (including the number one podcast on the internet Preying Lizard).

My songs were placed in a bunch of indie movies including “The People I’ve slept With” which went to Sundance last fall.

Afresh: Tell us more about your music resources. I have had 6 songs on the VH1 reality shows, “The Pickup Artist” and “Tough Love”, and two of my music videos have been on “New Now Next Pop Lab” on MTV’s Logo network.

I was also featured in a bunch of local and national magazines including Rock City News, Lost Anarchy, the LA Weekly, Girls and Corpses, Revolver, and many more.

Afresh: How did you come together as a group? “All of this noise and no band”. Brian Beckman approached me about a year ago as an A&R rep who wanted to work with me.  He asked if I had a band and I said no.  He offered his services as a bass-player.  He is a kick-ass bass-player.  Then, after a couple of false starts with other drummers I remembered Chelsea Bangs. With Josh Freese having drummed for my record it was pretty hard to find someone to do that live. Chelsea was one of my students at rock and roll summer camp. It was pretty funny for me being a teenage camp counselor for other teenagers. Chelsea has that same drive to musical perfection on the drums that I have for guitar and songwriting.

Afresh: What is one of the biggest challenges for the group? One of the biggest challenges for the group is nobody believes what a bad ass guitar player I am. When they hear the name, “The Fabulous Miss Wendy” they think it’s gonna suck.  I like it though because when they do realize what a shredder I am, they really freak out; it’s awesome! Like when they announce the name, people clear the room; but within the first song people always come running back in.  They hear the guitar shredding and when they realize it’s a chick, it just blows their minds!

Afresh:  Do you feel the economic crunch has hurt the industry, or do you have some other promotional tips to help support your music? I think that the music industry is definitely changing, but people still love music and they are willing to support it in any medium it is brought to them, weather it be I-tunes, live shows, whatever.

Afresh: Thinking back, did your family carry on the same musical/artistic interests? I am the first person in my family to pursue music as a career.  My older brother plays guitar and takes me to a lot of rock concerts.  I’m glad he does because my parents were so overprotective of me, the only reason they let me go to concerts is that my brother took me.

Afresh: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you? My parents didn’t really accept that I was doing music until they heard and saw me on tv, on the radio, and in magazines.

Afresh: Art & Music has an impact on both young and old.  Everyone loves a celebrity, so what advice do you have for the youth of today? My advice to anyone pursuing anything music or otherwise is to do what you want to no matter how many people tell you how ridiculous it is.  So many people have told me that I couldn’t be The Fabulous Miss Wendy.  People who say that you can’t do whatever can go f-themselves!

Afresh: Do you have your own favorite type of music and is it any different from what you play now? Having an older brother, I was influenced by a lot of music that is older than I am, like punk rock and grunge.  I love Jeff Beck, the Misfits, The Cramps, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Green Day, Nirvana, Hole, The Sex Pistols, Oingo Boingo, Bad Brains, and tons more!

Afresh: What is the main reason you love to perform music? The reason that I make music is that special tingly feeling that you get in the pit of your stomach when you hear a great song.  It makes you want to listen to it over and over again.  I love that feeling, I love making music that gives me and other people that feeling.  I try to write songs that I would love to hear.  I think that a lot of people forget about that and just write songs to write songs.  When something isn’t authentic on some level, people can sniff it out a mile away.

Afresh: So what are your musical touring plans for the year? I am currently on a 70 city American tour, playing with Psychostick, Green Jelly, and Nashville Pussy.  The Fabulous Miss Wendy (as a band) does a short set, then we are the backing band for Green Jello.  I get to play lead guitar for Green Jelly!!! It’s a blast!

Afresh: If you could play with anyone in the world, either broke-up, dead or alive who would it be? If I could play a tour with any three acts in the world, it would be Madonna, Prince, and The Rolling Stones.

Afresh: What is one of the furthest shows you have ever done? The furthest shows I have done from home were in Iraq playing for the American Troops.  I have traveled there twice to play, the first time in Baghdad, and the second time in Kuwait and Northern Iraq.  I really like playing for the troops because they are a grateful, appreciative audience.

Afresh: Have you ever done any benefit or fund-raiser performances? I have played a bunch of benefit performances and am always up for more. In the last couple of months I have played them for homeless animals and Haiti.

Afresh: Do you currently have an agent, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.? We are an unsigned band, but we have a top notch manager and booking agency.  We are managed by A&R guru and former  Geffen Records music genius, Tom Zutaut.  He signed Guns and Roses, Motley Crue, Dokken, Tesla, Enya, Metalica, and tons of other awesome bands! Our booking agency is called Popular Music and they are doing an incredible job for us.

Afresh: How can you be reached for an appearance/performance? We can be reached thru our management: Tom Zutaut, 8950 West Olympic BLVD, #216, Beverly Hills, California, 90211, (310)359-8736

For Live Bookings contact our agents at Popular Music: Mike Rand (734)604-9458 or Ryan Ray(248)249-5321
