What is your name, and name your group/band/act?

Andrew-Bass Player, System Overload

Where are the artists from? What is their talent in the group?

Dallas, Greenville, and Fort Worth, TX, Travis-vocals, Dustin-guitar, vocals, David-guitar, Andrew-Bass, Paul-Drums

How did the band get the name?

We kept blowing the breakers at the house we used to practice at. On one occasion, it fried the whole box and the house was without power for a few days. It seemed fitting to be named System Overload after that occasion.

What instrument do you play now? (If applicable)

Same

What (who) does your act/art consist of?

Travis-vocals, Dustin-guitar, vocals, David-guitar, Andrew-Bass, Paul-Drums

How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?

Melodic Heavy Metal/Hard Rock, energetic, in your face, no holds barred live performance

Give me some details about the group/act/art?

We let the music speak for itself. Honestly we are all fairly laid back dudes that just like to have a good time. The music is where we get the aggressive sides of our personalities out.

How long have you been performing live or making art?

7 years

Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?

David, Dustin, Travis and I (Andrew) all met in highschool. We were best friends. We have been playing together for around 7 years. We met Paul in another band that we used to play with quite often, Although not the the original drummer, he fit right in with us from the very start. He has been playing drums with us for about 3 years now.

What has been the biggest challenge for you or the group?

It’s not really a challenge. Life issues get in the way but the bond we have has friends and a band have kept us together. It’s still fun for us and we all continue to push eachother to make each song better than the last.

You’ve heard of the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?

You just fight through them and figure out a way to make it happen. Like they always say the show must go on. It also helps that this group is a group of best friends, if one of us is down the other 4 figure out a way to pick them back up. It’s a no one gets left behind mentality.

Everyone loves a celebrity so what advice do you have for the youth of today?

Chase your dreams, no matter what, The traditional go to school, get married, and get a job will always be there. You can attempt to do school and music at the same time. In our group we have 3 members with college degrees and not one over the age of 25. It’s always nice to know there is a fallback plan.

What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?

Initially, not really, they didn’t think it was realistic to try to do this. After the amount of time we have put into this and seeing us live and the packed out crowds they realized it wasn’t just some garage band. Yes, now they do.

Thinking back, did your family carry on the same musical/artistic interests?

Andrew- My dad is a drummer and my uncle was sa studio guitarists for years and years
Paul- My dad has played in Bands my whole life
Dustin- My mom is a classicly trained pianist

Do you have your own favorite type of music and is it any different from what you play now?
Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share with us?

Not really, we all enjoy working out. Espescially Dustin. Travis and I(Andrew) like to run.

What has been your strong influence to continue performing?

It’s addicting, there is no feeling like being on stage and the exchange of energy between you and the crowd. Also, you know the dream of becoming “Metallica famous” is always there as well.

Does anyone in particular influence your artistic/musical talent?

Real life situations influence our music-relationships, politics, overcoming adversity. Bands which have influenced us greatly are bands like Sevendust, Alter Bridge, Killswitch Engage, Guns N’ Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains, Mudvayne.

Who does most of the song writing/art/literature?

We work really well collectively as a unit to write the songs, Dustin and David will bring in riffs and we all add our input and make various changes or add our own parts. Essentially, we write songs together. Everyone has a say. Lyrics come out of Travis, Dustin, and I (Andrew). Artwork is Dustin’s forte’ , I add my input such as ideas but Dustin is the one who can put those ideas down in photoshop and such. He is a really gifted graphics artist and drawer.

If you had to change one thing about your music/group what do you feel would be the best change to benefit the
group overall and why?

Nothing, we have the right group of guys

Have you ever had any strange or stalker type fans that you are aware of?

Haha, there have been a few strange ones but no stalker types. A few guys have lied saying they were in the band when really they just hang out with us. Other than that, not really. We have really loyal fans. They show up show after show for years and years now.

While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans who snuck in to the dressing room/rehearsal?

Yeah, but no big deal, if it weren’t for the people that supported us where would we be

Tell us about your most embarrassing moment if you care to share it with us?

Lol, one time Travis wasn’t wearing underwear on stage and the zipper to his shorts came undone. Let’s just say the crowd got to know him a lot better.

What has been the most bizarre thing (thrown) on the stage with you? How did you react?

Lol, one time in Fort Worth at the Ridglea Theater, a couple of ridiculously big bras and panties were thrown on stage. I’m talking HUGE! So during the set we decided we should constantly put them on eachother’s heads, instruments and such just to keep it interesting. Lol. Did I mention they were damp with sweat…..

What is your wildest story with the group?

We have had quite a few. Mix a little alcohol and 5 dudes and there is no telling what can happen.

What has been the worst nightmare for the group? How did you get through it all?

Well recently we have had a stroke of health issues. Dustin, guitar player, nearly cut off one of his fingers, Travis, vocals, almost died of a throat infection contracted off of a dirty dental instrument after having his wisdom teeth removed, and Paul, our drummer, has had on going major health issues with his dad, who he is extremely close to. We just stick together and keep getting through it. We are finally at a place where everything is getting back to normal.

What are your up-to-date performance plans? New releases? Tours? News?

We are currently working in a new guitar player. David, one of our founders is leaving and we have a replacement. Once he is up to speed the new album will be out very shortly. Got to wrap vocals on it and it will be ready to go. Be looking for a new tour in support of this new cd.

If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)

Sevendust-they have one of the most intense live shows and have been a major influence on us musically
Avenged Sevenfold- great band and another influence to push the boundaries of your music.

What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?

Chicago, Illinois

Have you been involved in any benefit performances? What was it and how did you become involved?

Yes, we did a benefit concert for the Greenville, TX school district. The majority of the town and education system is relatively poor and we were able to help raise money to help some underprivelaged kids. We got involved because my mom is a teacher of students in these situations. We thought it would be a good thing to give back to our hometown which has supported us so greatly.

Do you currently have an agent, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.?

We are currently looking for a new booking agent. Our management is through Greenhausen (former manager for Universal Artist Element Eighty)

Is this your first interview or do you have some other articles/stories about you posted somewhere for public viewing?

We do. We have posted several of them under the blog section of our myspace

Do you have any video links where people can see you?

Yes, once again, check the myspace, we have a video section I constantly change the videos on.
there are quite a few on you tube as well.

Do you have a website of any type? (Name all options)

We have a website,

www.systemoverloadmusic.com, Myspace, www.myspace.com/systemoverloadmetal , and a facebook, a twitter, a reverbnation.

Please feel free to add any other information you want to share with the public audience/readers.
Our music is available on I-Tunes and Amazon as well as our website and Myspace. Any support, whether that is buying on song or all of them is greatly appreciated. Come to a show, we are definitely a live band.

Music brings people all ages together, and sometimes people call it the center to the soul for “WHEN WORDS SPEAK IN A WHISPER, MUSIC SPEAKS LOUD AND PROUD!!!”
