Afresh: What is your name, and name your group/band/act?
Josh and Tory. The band name is Synthetikill.
Afresh: Where are the artists from?  What is their talent in the group?
We are from Council Bluffs, Iowa. Tory and Josh both do vocals and Tory does sampling and keyboards.
Afresh: How did the band get the name?
Tory came up with the name back in 2003. He just mixed up the word Synthetic and added Kill to it. Pretty self explanatory.
Afresh: What instrument do you play now?
Vocals and lyrics.
Afresh: What (who) does your act/art consist of?
As of right now Synthetikill consists of Josh Mohr, Tory Mitchell. Our session player are Matt Britton, guitars and Dillon Tscheu, drums. Tory designs our artwork.
Afresh: How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?
Unique and none conforming to the ever growing copy cat machine in Metal. We refuse to be limited to anything. With us you get dark and true lyrical concepts. Musically we want to experiment as much as possible and keep away from the others.
Afresh: Give me some details about the group/act/art?
Both of us, Tory and Josh, live in seperate states, Minnesota and Iowa. We have a very similiar vision of what to create musically. We have such a wide variety of influences that they want to bring together to go for that unique sound. Synthetikill is going to be writing and recording new songs in Minnesota this time around instead of Iowa.
Afresh: How long have you been performing live or making art?
Synthetikill was technically formed in 2003 but never did anything until 2007. Synthetikill has yet to play live but are being hopeful to do so in the future.
Afresh: Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?
Tory and Josh met back in 1997 on a bowling league they both were on. We have been trying to get things back on track since 2008 after everyone aside from Tory and Josh, decided they didnt want to dedicate themselvs any longer.
Afresh: What has been the biggest challenge for you or the group?
Being in different states and Josh having to drive 8 hours to write and record. The songs we have on our myspace were made over three months and were very rushed and are not up to our standards. The new shit will be very put together and not so simple this time around.
Afresh: You’ve heard of the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?
We just create and see what happens. We dont think much about the obsticles because we know it isn’t easy.
Afresh: Everyone loves a celebrity so what advice do you have for the youth of today?
Always do what you feel is right. Never let anyone control you or your artistic vision. Most lables will do what they can to strip down your art to make their vision, but remember it isn’t their vision it is yours.
Afresh: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?
They support Synthetikill all the way!
Afresh: Thinking back, did your family carry on the same musical/artistic interests?
Nope, Not one bit. Torys’ father was very into music but never did anything about it.
Afresh: Do you have your own favorite type of music and is it any different from what you play now?
We love Metal but we also see the awesomeness in all types of music, there are no limits.
Afresh: Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share with us?
Both Tory and Josh love to write. Tory writes more poetry but Josh just writes randomly and likes to write stories.
Afresh: What has been your strong influence to continue performing?
The thrill of creating and people loving it.
Afresh: Does anyone in particular influence your artistic/musical talent?
Slipknot is the biggest influence but we draw from all over the spectrum.
Afresh: Who does most of the song writing/art/literature?
Tory and Josh both write and put the ideas together.
Afresh: If you had to change one thing about your music/group what do you feel would be the best change to benefit the group overall and why?
Make more music that is not so simple. Synthetikill can be so much more than what is on the myspace. The right musicians have been found to take this project to the next level. So be ready!
Afresh: Have you ever had any strange or stalker type fans that you are aware of?
Nope.
Afresh: While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans who snuck in to the dressing room/rehearsal?
Nope…we have yet to get there with our music.
Afresh: Tell us about your most embarrassing moment if you care to share it with us?
Josh lost his voice during the recording of one of the Synthetikill songs called A Son Never Forgets. After chugging Moutain Dew for an hour it came back.
Afresh: What has been the most bizarre thing (thrown) on the stage with you?  How did you react?
Have yet to do it.
Afresh: What is your wildest story with the group?
I dont think we have had any yet. I can’t recall any.
Afresh: What has been the worst nightmare for the group?  How did you get through it all?
Having to work from a state away. Synthetikill just kept making music and recorded and got over it.
Afresh: What are your up-to-date performance plans?  New releases?  Tours? News?
Synthetikill plans on working on 2 new songs and seeing what happens with them.
Afresh: If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)
Slipknot! Who wouldn’t want to open for them? That is the biggest influence in Synthetikill so why the hell not?
Afresh: What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?
Haven’t done it yet.
Afresh: Have you been involved in any benefit performances?  What was it and how did you become involved?
Nope not yet.
Afresh: Do you currently have an agent, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.?
No, but we are looking for one…hint hint.
Afresh: Is this your first interview or do you have some other articles/stories about you posted somewhere for public viewing?
This is the first and we are happy to do it!
Afresh: Do you have any video links where people can see you?
Nope, we remain in the shadows for right now.
Afresh: Do you have a website of any type?
Just a myspace page. www.myspace.com/synthetikillband

Music brings people all ages together, and sometimes people call it the center to the soul for “WHEN WORDS SPEAK IN A WHISPER, MUSIC SPEAKS LOUD AND PROUD!!!”
