MC: Hi Afresh I am Mark Cashin & the group is called Mark Cashin & the Lil Hussys
Afresh: Where are the artists from? What is their talent in the group?
MC: Central Coast NSW Australia, playing great original music & performing
Afresh: How did the band get the name?
MC: via EAO (Eastern Acoustic Organisation) Meshell Croker & I came up with the name…off the song Lil Hussy on my debut album Bed of Light.
Afresh: What instrument do you play now? (If applicable)
MC: I am a drummer however I play guitar and drums
Afresh: What (who) does your act/art consist of?
MC: 5pcs group Mark Cashin & the Lil Hussys are Mark Cashin Lead vocals, Dave Hentzschel Bass guitar, Jethro Andrews Drums & percussion, Jemal Harbas Rhythm guitar & bvs, Matty Saturn Lead guitar.
Afresh: How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?
MC: Classic rock/ pop/ rock music with catchy lyrics & choruses – music that you can sing along to.
Afresh: Give me some details about the group/act/art?
MC: Mark Cashin & the Lil Hussys are an Australian 5pc rock band delivering infectious melodies & superb rock dynamics. Our music catalogue contains 28 original songs being a mix of Classic Rock, Pop, Rock, Adult Contemporary & ambient ballads.
Afresh: How long have you been performing live or making art?
MC: 5 YEARS as Mark Cashin & the Lil Hussys
Afresh: Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?
MC: I formulated the band around the first album Bed Of Light approx 4 years ago
Afresh: What has been the biggest challenge for you or the group?
MC: Obtaining the funds for our band & team to tour to USA where our music is being played most frequently.
Afresh: You’ve heard of the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?
MC: Hmmmm…hand it all over to my manager (ha ha)…& let her work it out.
Afresh: Do you feel the economic crunch has hurt the industry, or do you have some other promotional tips to help support your music?
MC: Of course…the bottom line is making your online & all promotions stronger by networking, performing & interacting as much as you can.
Afresh: Art & Music has an impact on both young and old. Everyone loves a celebrity, so what advice do you have for the youth of today?
MC: Keep focused on the job at hand, beware of scheisters in the industry as there are plenty & work hard & love what you do.
Afresh: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?
MC: Yes my family members are very supportive and my 2 children try to come to every show they can.
Afresh: What is your stance on how to get the public to support “live music” and see the shows? Any ideas???
MC: Online networking is the key – keep in touch with people – build your profile & have a decent product.
Afresh: Thinking back, did your family carry on the same musical/artistic interests?
MC: Yes actually I come from a musical family line.
Afresh: Do you have your own favorite type of music and is it any different from what you play now?
MC: Yes I do and it’s not much different to what I write, record & this reflects in my music.
Afresh: What has been your strong influence to continue performing?
MC: My inner emotion can only be unleashed this way & it scares me to think what I would be without music
Afresh: Does anyone in particular influence your artistic/musical talent?
MC: A menagerie of great artists flashes before my eyes.
Afresh: Who does most of the song writing/art/literature?
MC: I do except for one of the new songs off the new album CASHOLOGY – I collaborated with Matty Saturn & Jethro Andrews on Exploded Like a Gun.
Afresh: If you had to change one thing about your music/group what do you feel would be the best change to benefit the group overall and why?
MC: Well we have keyboards in all our music – in this sense our live shows lack keyboards in which we are considering adding & that would be really all
Afresh: Have you ever had any strange or stalker type fans that you are aware of?
MC: Yes…hahaha.. all the time at our shows & online
Afresh: While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans who snuck in to the dressing room/rehearsal?
MC: Yes many times & I really hate it..as I like to prepare before a show as it takes a lot of energy
Afresh: What has been the most bizarre thing (thrown) on the stage with you? How did you react?
MC: Ladies under pants…that was evident of a menstral cycle..!!…Kept on doing the show.
Afresh: What is your wildest story with the group?
MC: This cannot be answered sorry
Afresh: What has been the worst nightmare for the group? How did you get through it all?
MC: The blow that really hit the band hard was when the US embassy refused our entry & our tour was cancelled – we were all left in a circle of numb…it was like a death to the family
Afresh: What are your up-to-date performance plans? New releases? Tours? News?
MC: Performance plans: NSW local shows in a variety of venues with tours upcoming to Melbourne VIC & Qld plus an international tour to USA California in 2011. Showcasing our new album CASHOLOGY & our debut album Bed of Light
Afresh: If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)
MC: The King Michael Jackson, The King Ronnie James Dio & The current King Steve Tyler / Aerosmith
Afresh: What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?
MC: Cairns QLD & Melbourne VIC in Australia
Afresh: How do you feel about file swapping?
MC: Me no like…hmm…not sure I understood that question correctly…sorry
Afresh: Have you been involved in any benefit performances? What was it and how did you become involved?
MC: Yes….charity events we are always happy to be involved with.
So far Prostate Cancer…& the Victorian Bushfire Appeals in 2009
Afresh: Do you currently have an agent, endorsement, record label, sponsor, etc.?
MC: Yes we do…we have a great team working with us…Our management is RGM Rachael Griffin Management. The Record Label is Foghorn Records, Our Promotions & Mgmt in UK is Deuce MP & Promotions & consulting USA is J.Nicoletti.
Afresh: Is this your first interview or do you have some other articles/stories about you posted somewhere for public viewing?
