Afresh: What is your name, and name your group/band/act?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Miss Lady Blake
Afresh: Where are the artists from?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Kansas City KS
Afresh: How did the band get the name?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Well I was thinking my real name was cool but in hip-hop you just gotta be the bomb so I added the Miss Lady.
Afresh: What instrument do you play now? (If applicable)
MISS LADY BLAKE: Vocals: sing, dance, and RAP
Afresh: What (who) does your act/art consist of?
MISS LADY BLAKE: I do a very chic hip-hop set! Dance and music….we break it down too.
Afresh: How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?
MISS LADY BLAKE: I am totally into the performance end of the music. Catchy hooks, dance routines, hyping, fun, and reppin the girls. J
Afresh: Give me some details about the group/act/art?
MISS LADY BLAKE: If you love Top 40’s that’s what I do.
Afresh: How long have you been performing live or making art?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Since I was about 8 years old. Original sets since age 23.
Afresh: Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Growing up with dance and falling in love with hip-hop, I started as an artist at age 21.
Afresh: What has been the biggest challenge for you or the group?
MISS LADY BLAKE: The “hit song” is a big part of getting a deal!
Afresh: You’ve heard of the term “starving artists” before, how do you cope with major obstacles?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Be smarter than that. Get a job so you have the money and put your other time into your passion.
Afresh: Do you feel the economic crunch has hurt the industry, or do you have some other promotional tips to help support your music?
MISS LADY BLAKE: No I feel like the music industry is expanding for the better. It’s harder to get recognized, but If you are good it will just happen.
Afresh: Art & Music has an impact on both young and old. Everyone loves a celebrity, so what advice do you have for the youth of today?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Do the right thing. Go to school, get a job, set goals, dream big! If you work at something you love hard enough, anything is possible.
Afresh: What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?
MISS LADY BLAKE: They get excited and definitely support me.
Afresh: What is your stance on how to get the public to support “live music” and see the shows? Any ideas???
MISS LADY BLAKE: Practice, practice, practice. Then get a show at your type of venue.
Afresh: Thinking back, did your family carry on the same musical/artistic interests?
MISS LADY BLAKE: My mom sings jazz and country. My bro sings rock. I love hip-hop.
Afresh: Do you have your own favorite type of music and is it any different from what you play now?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Yes, dance music
Afresh: Do you have other interests or talents you would like to share with us?
MISS LADY BLAKE: I’m an inventor, movie/tv writer, model, actress, director and producer.
Afresh: What has been your strong influence to continue performing?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Seeing a vision and knowing that you can create it. Passion and work.
Afresh: Does anyone in particular influence your artistic/musical talent?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Madonna, Missy Elliott, Black-eyed Peas, Gwen Stephani
Afresh: Who does most of the song writing/art/literature?
MISS LADY BLAKE: myself, my producer Reuben, and my boy Nasty Teamwork J
Afresh: If you had to change one thing about your music/group what do you feel would be the best change to benefit the group overall and why?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Nothing, everything happens for the right reasons.
Afresh: Have you ever had any strange or stalker type fans that you are aware of?
MISS LADY BLAKE: Not really, just some haters
Afresh: While getting ready to perform have you ever been interrupted by fans who snuck in to the dressing room/rehearsal?
MISS LADY BLAKE: No, but this one girl got on stage to try to dance with me and I had to escort her off. LOL
Afresh: What are your up-to-date performance plans? New releases? Tours? News?
MISS LADY BLAKE: A few big shows in Las Vegas. I’m looking forward to doing a bid show in Kansas City too.
Afresh: If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why? (Name up to three)
MISS LADY BLAKE: Cindy Lauper, Missy Elliott, Nikki Manosh
Afresh: What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?
MISS LADY BLAKE: LA and Panama City
