Copyright infringement laws—Protect Your Fans & Yourself

From The Thieves!

Let’s face it, on-line magazines and newsletters are sprouting up all over the web today!  Thus this makes it harder for the people who are doing this for the right reasons to keep things fresh, live, real, and rockin’ .  Positive promotions work!  Networking with the right people creates successful business for both parties.

Why is everyone “trying to do it”????  First let’s look at the “big picture”.  Everyone seems to think, “hell, that’s easy I might as well just do it too”.  Well it’s not as easy as you think if you are being truly honest with your readers.

As a writer first, it takes long hours of research and development to build good writing techniques.  As a photographer, it takes a unique focus on the subject matter to create that masterpiece.  As an artist, we know how long and hard it is to finish a product.  Building a website may be easier these days with templates set up that you just fill up with content; however the content is what makes your own work stand out.  This is what brings the fans and readers back to you.  Have you ever been to an arts and crafts show and saw someone take a piece of work and try to turn it upside down and inside out to “do it themselves”?  Why do people do these kinds of things in the first place?  Well, to sum it all up, everyone thinks they can do what someone else has done “better, or cheaper, or just because”…. It’s human nature to want what someone else has, and it shows the beast we have hidden within us.  There’s that little thing called “greed” that makes us become “monsters”.  But what about the “right thing to do”, that little thing called “ethics”.

Ask yourself this.  How long do you want to write content for a website?  How much time and effort do you want to put into building a business?  In a sense, you are building a business and a partnership with your clients whether it is that first interview, written article, video, photograph, etc.  Each piece should have a purpose.  Each thought should be original as the idea when it popped into your mind.  Your readers focus on you because they like you and they love what you are doing.  They understand what it takes to bring them the best articles and they come back for more!

Why do you want to build an on-line site?  Is it for good intentions, positive promotions, getting your name out there, fun or a hobby, a real business?  As long as you are being honest with yourself first these are proper reasons to proceed with your project.  If you are doing it to “get free stuff”, “go to a free concert”, “party like a rock-star”, “cause hate and discontent”, then you might want to put your reputation on the line first!  What kind of person are you…inside and out?  What kind of a legacy do you want to leave behind someday?  A good editor knows that honesty is the best policy.  A good writer knows that a great story has to come from the heart or the root of the idea; not somebody else.

Ask yourself:  How will you feel in 10 years?  What will your family think?  How will what you do affect your child?  Are you telling the truth?  Would you want people to remember you this way?  How will you feel if you have lied and it caused a hardship on someone else?  Do you have true ethics?  Can you be professional at all times?  How will your work reflect upon someone else?  Are you simply a “copy cat”? What do you really hope to gain with your project?  Protect yourself from the thieves!  Here are some rules about copyright you should know:

  • The length of a copied document does not matter, nor does the amount you may have copied; even a copying a small portion of a document may cause you to be liable for copyright infringement.  If you like the article, then write it in your own words and not just copy someone else’s work!  Where are your ethics and morals????  Are you being honest and true to YOUR fans, readers, and followers????  Are you being TRUE TO YOURSELF!
  • A copyright notice (i.e. ©) is generally not required for a work to be protected by copyright law.  If you write it down, it’s YOURS!  YOU own IT!  Once you have put your thoughts on paper, it’s your copyright.  It’s yours.  But it has more protection for you if you need to present the evidence in court when you actually go through the copyright process.
  • Distributing documents containing copyrighted content without the copyright owner’s permission is a violation of copyright law even if you give the document away for free.  So be careful what you are sharing, if you care about the reputation and the professional ethics of a true business person then you will do the “right thing”.  There’s no real achievement in being unprofessional!  Eventually you will lose the fans you have, and possibly the friends or business acquaintances you have made.  Nobody wants to be shafted, and people don’t like being a victim of a thief.
  • There is no exception for private copying in U.S. law. Even if you share a work with only a small group of your friends or family, you could still be liable for copyright infringement!  (This means copying content on any website, forum, etc. and using it as ‘your own content’ without the written permission by the owner, company, business, etc. and/or without the link to the originator’s site….bascially, you are simply being a thief just to create an on-line magazine!) So why don’t you write your own content if you are serious about becoming successful.  Otherwise, you are just another con/scammer on the net!  It will catch up to you sooner than you think!  If you had a good reputation when you started, it will soon be tarnished beyond repair.
  • You can still be held liable for copyright infringement even if you give attribution to the owner or Author of the copyrighted content!  Stop stealing!!!!  This can be confusing when many sites have the “share feature”, but this was intended to spread the word with a positive impact on the root source. It’s always best to get written permission first!
  • Even if you used your creativity to make a new document that contained another person’s copyrighted work, you may be liable for copyright infringement.  Get original, or get out!!!  Stop being a “fake”!
  • Even if there are documents on the site similar to the one you uploaded, you may be liable for copyright infringement if you upload an unauthorized document!  Get the owner’s permission in writing first, and stop being so ignorant!  All of your hard work will go right down the ladder of success once people know the truth about you.
  • The only way that you can know for certain that a document does not infringe anyone else’s copyright is if you created the entire document yourself (including any images) without using anyone else’s copyrighted work.

A fresh content takes lots of hard work!  If you are just stealing someone’s work for content, then you obviously don’t want to share your real talents with your readers.  If you are a “fake”, “con”, etc ; it takes time but when you are discovered for your lies and deceit it goes a long way with the honest people who want to see some respect and hear the truth.  Some people believe they can smell a rat a mile away, and I know that as a personal rule I choose to distance myself from people who are dishonest.  Personally I don’t understand why anyone would want to go to the trouble of imitating another person unless they had good intentions and wanted to merge into a long lasting friendship.  Some of the best partnerships are made because of business people doing the right thing, living with ethics that are good solid characteristics, and showing the enthusiasm it takes to build stronger to last longer!

You have to stay professional at all times!  Even if you don’t like what the other person is doing, let them fall flat on their face.  Stop spreading hate as you are only hurting the industry you are trying to preserve and promote.  Do not use their ideas and change your pages to look like theirs.  Compliments are one a form of flattery, but stealing is stealing!  Be original!  Stay UNIQUE!!!  Do your own thing and then be proud of it.  Focus on using your energy to work smarter.  Show your enthusiasm, and new ideas will come to you.  Be able to have a sense of worth deep in your heart.  Feel good about what you are doing at all times.  You never know when someone will pull a skeleton out of the closet.  Be your best.  Do your best.  Stay real, stay honest, stay strong!

Use professional services to get your content if you can’t do it on your own!  Get involved with the fresh writers who want to contribute, and make sure to “search their credentials” as a writer.  Many times you will find that people in personal media have sites set to “private”.  These people are usually not “professional media” and they probably do not have the best intentions.  If they are truly on the up, they will want people to see what they have written, done, etc.  It’s the same with an artist, photographer, journalist, etc.  You just don’t steal someone’s work and put your name on it as your own.  This is why it is always a good idea to do a web search or background check first.  Find out who you are really dealing with!  (Ex:  Did you know you can take parts of a sentence and “google” it to find out the sources?  It may even surprise you as to where it actually came from.  You may discover copyright infringement.)

If you use press releases for your content, list them as such on your site.  Put a PR (Press Release) page on the site for world news.  The people who send you these things do it because they trust you and your business.  They want to build a positive working relationship with you.  Do the same in return!  If you are using a shared site’s information, put a segment of the piece on your site to take them to the “real article” to compliment them for their work.  This will pay off better for your business in the long run.  If you are in an affiliate or partnership program, then you already know your ground rules.  Network with the right sources.  Build a strong fan-base by doing things with good intentions!

Another thing, when you have a “verbal contract” (between two or more people and it is agreed upon) do exactly what you said you are going to do or you can be sued personally as well as a business!  If you use any photo(s) to build your artist, band, personal, etc. banner, logo, social site, professional website but you do not provide the link to the owner’s work and/or you do not put the owner’s name on their work, you can be sued for breach of contract and copyright infringement, even if you share those rights!

Don’t ever post any photos anywhere without putting the owner’s artist name on each piece!  If you upload photos without giving the owner the credit they are due for their work, you have violated copyright law!  Make sure the people sharing your content know who actually did the work.  Give them the credit they deserve.  They own it, not you!  You may think you have “nothing to lose”, but you have already lost.  You just don’t know how bad, yet!

This means watch what you use as your own on social sites, (Ex: facebook, myspace, flickr, photobucket) and other photo sites, business sites, etc.  Remember always, business is business and sometimes you have to separate friendship from business.  Pull out those weeds, and let the flowers bloom!  Please be true to your readers, artists, record labels, media, other competitors, etc.  If you can’t be honest, then you’re just not real.  You aren’t helping anyone in the long run.

Using someone else’s work to build your content on line just to get into a “free show” is childish, immature, and morally wrong!  Going through the “back doors” to sneak into a venue is dishonest.  Telling lies about other media to make your own self look better is unprofessional, unethical, and downright dirty!  You will look like the fool once the truth comes out!

Play the game right, or just don’t play at all.

If you read the true facts from the prominent business world, you will find that working together with the competitor(s) brings great success to everyone!  Networking and other marketing tips that really work well can be found through various resources.  Build a better community by surrounding yourself with great people.  Get to know people who started small and worked their way to the top.  Listen to those who have been in a business relationship before.  Check out the facts.  Do your research.  Write your own content!

Compliment each other and share the success so everyone climbs to the top!  Stop violating copyright laws.

Rammstein Sells Out Madison Square Garden in 30 Minutes
October 12, 2010 – Tickets sold out in only thirty minutes for the legendary German band Rammstein’s December 11th performance at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City. The show was announced September 27th, tickets went on sale for the show Friday, October 8th at Noon Eastern and before an hour passed, tickets were officially sold out. Rammstein is the first German band in history to accomplish such a feat!
This will be the only US show by the Berlin-based six-piece band that has not performed in the United States since 2001. So many fans will be disappointed with the sell out of the event. Hopefully another tour date can be added for all the fans. Rammstein’s music has such an unusual sensation that fans seem to engulf, wanting more to feed their hungry appetite.
Rammstein toured with a set based on their Grammy-nominated breakthrough second release, Sehnsucht, featuring “Du hast;” stormed through America in 1998. The song prominently featured in Lost Highway, a David Lynch’s film. The band’s appearance at the Quebec City Summer Festival in July 2010 lured thousands of US fans to cross the border into Canada for their performance! Since last fall, Rammstein’s formidable live show traversed Europe. Twenty 18-wheelers packed with pyrotechnics, flame-throwers, bazookas was beyond imagination, and it appears as a “must see” act for the bands fans.

Saturday, October 9, marked the 70th birthday of John Lennon; the singer-songwriter and former Beatle. John Lennon died on December 8, 1980. He was shot by Mark David Chapman outside of his Dakota apartment building, in New York City. It’s never too late to remember a legend that brought so much to the music industry. John showed enthusiasm and power with every song he performed. When he hit the stage it was as though magic appeared right before your very eyes.

Lennon soared to eternal fame as a founding member of the Beatles and, along with Paul McCartney, formed arguably the most successful songwriting partnership in music history. {Paul attended a LOVE Tribute in Las Vegas where John Lennon was honored for his achievements in music.}
People all over the world are honoring John Lennon with special “happy birthday” greetings, many found on You Tube.

After the Beatles broke up, in 1970, Lennon moved to New York City in 1971, where he became a leading voice in the Vietnam War protests. He left the music business in 1975 to spend more time with his wife Yoko Ono and newborn son, Sean.
John Lennon was murdered just three weeks after the release of his comeback album Double Fantasy, in 1980.

Never in my life had I seen a more magnificent display of enthusiasm and high energy performance as the ones I have watched live with Sevendust.  My first time to take photos of the band while in action was at the Midland Theater in Kansas City while on tour with Skindred in 2008.  Taking night-shots in low lighting was a huge challenge for me as it was one of my first national tours in an indoor concert setting in a photo pit crammed full of photographers from miles around.  I drove three and a half hours to shoot the show after doing an interview with Benji from Skindred on the tour bus.  Dodging revolving lights, crowd surfers, and objects being tossed back and forth each moment was still priceless.  Sevendust gives their fans their all.  Their music is an inspiration to so many people.  I was overwhelmed at the reception they had on the stage.  As the last song played the crowd screamed and yelled for more.  They couldn’t get enough of Sevendust, and neither could I.

At Rocklahoma 2010, the crowd roared as it echoed throughout the grounds.  Fans raved about their performance and begged for more of what they were thirsty for.  In the photo pit, my husband Andre Zane Shiever of Afresh Entertainment Magazine captured the concert moments  as he snapped his prize shots rapidly to catch every glimpse and expression of the band members.  It was his first shoot in years as a photographer using a Nikon D60 camera.  Sevendust was his first national act and his big highlight of the day.

As photographers leaned up against each other poking and prodding, it was a fight for survival with wall of concrete separating the photo area and the stage.  Those who were tall or had a professional camera with a lens as big as a canon had no problems standing back behind the other photographers, but Andre worked his way through the “pit” to bring back an SD card full of amazing shots using my stock Nikon D60 Professional camera!

I can still remember his words, “Now I see why you enjoy this so much” “It kicked ass!”  He had the biggest smile I ever saw as he began to go through some of the captured moments on stage.  “That crowd was absolutely nuts and the photographers were worse!” he said.  “People pushed and shoved and they didn’t care who you were.  They just couldn’t seem to get enough, and I know I took some great shots of the drummer,” he exclaimed.   I knew he was hooked, and there’s no doubt if Sevendust is within reach, we will be there.

Sevendust BIO

There’s something almost intangible about a band with strong chemistry. When the guitarists vibe off each other just right, the bassist is lock in step with the drummer, the music almost transcends the musicians. And when the vocalist is feeding off the power of the other players, almost anything is possible. It’s something Sevendust learned early in their career when guitarist Clint Lowery joined forces with the eclectic Atlanta group.

“I knew once I got him in there that he could definitely change the band fully,” says drummer Morgan Rose. “His background vocals and his writing style and guitar playing were the final ingredients for us to become the band that we needed to be.”

With Lowery as a major contributor, Sevendust released four albums that stretched the limits of hard rock and metal, combining elements of thrash, classic metal, southern rock and soul into songs that were both sinfully tuneful and ruthlessly aggressive. Then in 2003, after the release of Seasons, the guitarist quit to focus on his other band Dark New Day. Sevendust continued for three more albums, and enjoyed considerable success, but something was clearly missing. So, when the band reunited with Lowery in early 2008, it was like the missing piece of a jigsaw puzzle was finally reinserted and the picture was again complete.

“It was really cool having Clint back in the band,” vocalist Lajon Witherspoon says. “That energy was great and it was really exciting to be able to work together to really hone in on what we had before and make it even better.”

The band’s new record, Cold Day Memory, capitalizes on all of Sevendust’s chemistry and potential. While the band’s last few efforts were mainly heavy and rhythmic, the new songs balance brutality with textural passages and infectious counter-melodies. There are even fleet-fingered guitar solos. But whether confronting the listener with double-bass drums and staccato power chords or using melodic arpeggios and soft brush strokes to sweeten the sound of Witherspoon’s multi-faceted vocals, Sevendust sound excited, energized and ready to take on the world.

“We wanted to change the template completely from what we did with our last album Hope and Sorrow, Rose explains. “We were going, ‘Let’s bring back those other elements Clint brought in that made us what we were. So we sort of made a silent agreement that we were going to let Clint run wild. We said we’ll jump in when it’s time, but if you’ve got an idea let’s go with it.”

“I just wanted us to do what we do best,” Lowery says. “We have a lot of melody that’s a cool contrast to the heavy music that we play. So, you’ll have a melodic chorus that comes out of nowhere, but we still have aggressive vocals there. And I did a lot with the harmonies, but I also did a lot of the heavy vocal stuff as well. So it was a challenge for me to really dig in and find a voice that was aggressive enough to where it sounded sincere enough to put on the record. We’re a very heavy, but melodic band and I wanted to maintain that.”

Throughout, Cold Day Memory is inventive, immediate and infectious. “Unraveling,” the first single is vintage Dust, a dynamic radio rocker that combines Witherspoon’s pained, melodic vocals with angry bursts of distorted guitar, peaking with a chorus made for driving with the pedal to the floor. “Splinter,” which opens with galactic sound effects, showcases the band’s heavier side with an opening guitar line reminiscent of Iron Maiden and a chugging riff that feeds into surging verse that bristles with animosity. Yet no matter how loud it gets, Witherspoon’s acrobatic vocals – which see-saw from an enraged howl to a vibrato-laden croon – keeps the song from flying off the rails. Other tunes are more experimental. “Karma” features jazzy, twanging guitars, a tumbling tribal beat, chiming guitar harmonics and vocals that build from a whisper to a scream. And “The End is Coming” incorporates electronic effects and string samples into an apocalyptic, harmony-laden amalgam of doom and dreams.

While Cold Day Memory is easily Sevendust’s most accomplished release in at least seven years, it wasn’t an easy album to create, especially for Lowery, who went above and beyond to prove himself. “I was second-guessing the hell out of myself and driving everyone else in the band crazy,” he says. “I was questioning whether everything I did was good enough. So, it was the hardest record for me because I was putting a lot of pressure on myself.”

Sevendust started working on Cold Day Memory at Room 56, their practice space in Atlanta in May 2009. With the help of Lowery’s brother Corey (Stereomud Dark New Day) who engineered and produced, Sevendust wrote a batch of high quality demos, including one, from which they procured the title of the album.

“It’s kind of funny because we were writing a song and I couldn’t come up with lyrics for the chorus,” says Lowery. “So I just threw in a bunch of words that sounded cool, and one of the phrases was ‘Cold Day Memory.’ We didn’t end up using the lyric, but when I came up with it I thought, ‘That sounds like a cool title for a record.’ So I put that back in my mental Rolodex. Then, when we were up in Chicago in the dead of winter, and it was such a dismal scene every day with the clouds, the snow and the rain, I started thinking back to that title, and I was like, ‘Man, that pretty much explains this whole experience.’”

In October 2009, Sevendust flew to Chicago to work on Cold Day Memory with producer Johnny K (Disturbed, Three Doors Down, Staind) at his Groovemaster Recording Studios. There, they spent three months reconfiguring their arrangements and fine-tuning their playing until the songs were tight and powerful.

“The schedule was brutal,” Witherspoon says. “We worked from 12 to 12 every day. We went through the works, but it went down really well. We did the vocals in this big booth that we built upstairs that overlooked the whole city, and along the way it became known as The Zone. And The Zone had rules. You weren’t allowed in there if you were too rambunctious. You couldn’t talk too much. It almost made me feel like when I was a wrestler in high school and you were going on deck. You were getting ready to go to The Zone to do your magic.”

More often than not, the vocal melodies and harmonies on the demos were different than those on the final takes. And the final takes were rarely the same as the 10 or 15 that preceded them. In the studio, Johnny K worked quickly, but he liked to examine multiple options from different angles.

“I tried a lot of different singing styles because we wanted to make sure we had a lot of things to choose from,” Witherspoon says. “But that was fun for me, man, and it felt like incredible conditioning because I was able to not only do vocals with Corey [Lowery], but then turn around and go back over those songs with Johnny K to tweak different things that he wanted to hear.”

All five band members contributed to the lyrics on Cold Day Memory, and the songs were works in progress up until the moment they were recorded. In the end, the band crafted songs that encapsulated their experiences with the world and one another. Witherspoon, who recently became a father, penned some lines about commitment and responsibility, while Rose, who was going through a painful divorce, wrote lyrics about heartbreak and disillusionment. “Unraveling,” which was co-written in Malibu, California by Lowery and Dave Bassette, is about the collapse of a relationship and “Confession” indirectly addresses Lowery quitting and returning to the band.

“Since we all write, it’s hard to tell exactly what each song is about, but we like to leave it up to the listeners to decide for themselves,” Rose says. “It’s funny because in the end you almost don’t know what you wrote. I remember telling [guitarist] John [Connolly] one time, ‘Dude, that was an amazing line you wrote,’ and He went, “What are you talking about? You wrote that.”

Despite it’s unconventional creation, in the end, Cold Day Memory is a cohesive return to form that restores everything Sevendust pioneered and excelled at in the late ‘90s with the writing and playing chops the members have developed since then. Moreover, it’s a modern sounding disc that uses the latest technology to create timeless tunes.

“It just brings a more musical side back to us, but at a more seasoned level,” Witherspoon concludes. “I’m just glad we’re all back together like this. I feel like this is a great album, and it’s only the beginning of a lot more stuff to come.”

The All-Star Band Featuring
Former Members of Puddle of Mudd,
Soulfly, Seven Story Drop And Dead Kennedys
Tears It Up Tunefully On Their
Debut EP ‘A Rhyme & Reason

Rockers Against All Will (AAW) play hard, yet never lose sight of stirring up conflicting emotions, channeled through bracing riffs and complex, beat-anchored rhythms within their latest EP A Rhyme & Reason.

Based in Los Angeles, AAW is a rising force in rock complete with all-star musicians, including former Puddle of Mudd guitarist Jimmy Allen, drummer Steve Wilson of the Dead Kennedys, bassist Cello Dias from Soulfly and singer Jeff Current, formerly of Seven Story Drop. CWG Magazine described it, “If the band’s lineup doesn’t scream the holy grail of rock, then surely their sound will make you a believer.”

Allen formed AAW nearly three years ago, however, his resume includes co-founding Puddle of Mudd and co-writing the band’s biggest hits “Blurry,” “She Hates Me” and “Drift And Die.”

“Having that kind of success with Puddle and then not being in a band humbled me in a way. I needed to take a long break. The whole thing was kind of a rebirth.  I have always been doing lot of writing with other people,” Allen says. “As the songs began to take shape, I started putting this band together. We played with a ton of musicians in L.A. – drummers, bass players and singers. Through this network of musicians, including bands we’ve been friends with and toured with for a long time, we got a lot of referrals – ‘try this guy out, check out this guy.’  It was very helpful.”

The members of AAW had crossed paths over the years in the Hollywood music scene and knew each other by reputation.

“When we arrived at the line-up now, it just jelled, each of the guys really bringing their own thing to the table; some people just play what they’re given, but these guys each add their own little thing,” Allen says.

AAW released two singles, You Can’t Change Me” (2007) andTomorrow & Today” (2008) gaining momentum culminating in the current band lineup and their 2009 debut album A Rhyme & Reason. The band’s most recent singles, All About You remixed by Jeff Tomei (Matchbox 20, Smashing Pumpkins, Jerry Cantrell) and this past summer’s smash hit The Drug I Need,” both garnered rock radio attention.

“With us the songs come first,” Allen says.  It’s about writing songs that have a lot of hooks and so on, but also depth and a perspective.  People kind of look at a song as a whole about one person or thing, when it actually may be about different situations we went through. “All About You,” is about when we first started we were thinking we were rock stars dating actresses, partying, hanging out in Hollywood, burning through enough money to be stupid, Looking back, it’s what were we thinking, dating actresses who then were of course lying to ten other guys and it was like, ‘you’re dating her, too?’

Reviewer Nadia Guardado of Hollywood Music Magazine called A Rhyme & Reason, “One of the most enjoyable and simple yet complex albums I’ve heard in a long time. Original from the first chord, to the last.”

Crafting music in the studio is an essential part of the AAW equation. A Rhyme & Reason was recording at KoЯn Studios Hollywood, a location that the band found inspiring and unique.

“Recording at Korn Studios was a very cool experience.  We are all huge fans of Korn and creating our tones in this special space, seeing their seven string guitars and the bagpipes, was a real trip.”

But the real environment that AAW thrives on is delivering the goods live.

“We’re all veterans playing on the road and we want people to get their money’s worth,” Allen says.

The group has played various-size venues, ranging from over-heated packed clubs to larger audiences, each time emerging triumphantly, including L.A. shows at famous landmark venues such as The Viper RoomThe Roxy and House of Blues.”

“We’ve played some theater gigs – I really love playing old theaters – and also some outdoor kind of stuff and small clubs, too.” Allen says.  “But with this band, the way we’re trying to go with the sound, the bigger the venue, the better.”

AAW records for Subsonic Industries, an independent label created by Allen and the band’s manager, music industry veteran Sam Kaiser.  Future plans include signing other artists and recently, AAW and Subsonic Industries enjoyed two of the top charting Active Rock independent label singles in Mediabase rankings, an impressive achievement for a relatively new record company.

And then there’s the ever growing “AAW Army” of loyal fans registering all over the county and around the world, linked through the band’s website along with their myspace and Facebook pages as well. December will see an exciting giveaway of an ESP guitar and a Baby Taylor acoustic guitar to one lucky AAW fan. Details on the drawing can be found on the official Against All Will website.

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on TIMES OF GRACE OFFER FREE DOWNLOAD

New York, NY:  Times of Grace, the new project that reteams Killswitch Engage guitarist and producer extraordinaire Adam Dutkiewicz with original KsE vocalist Jesse Leach, are offering an exclusive, free download of the song, “Strength in Numbers,” on Friday, October 15 at 11 AM ET. The song will be downloadable for 48 hours at and will be available for purchase digitally on October 19.

“Strength in Numbers” is the dynamic first taste of the band’s debut, The Hymn of a Broken Man, which is due in stores on January 18, 2011. Times of Grace is the second go-round for Dutkiewicz and Leach, who enjoyed incredible collaborative chemistry on KsE’s definitive debut, 2002’s Alive or Just Breathing. Times of Grace doesn’t revisit the pair’s fruitful past; rather, it finds them taking a creative left turn away from what they’ve previously done, without diluting their signature styles as they explore new musical terrain. There’s an old adage that says the only way out is through, and with Times of Grace, the singer and guitarist were able to use the vehicle of music to overcome and work their way through personal struggles.
Times of Grace just shot the video for “Strength in Numbers” with director Robby Starbuck just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. The video will make its debut imminently.
