Baby Guitars was composed by Nancy Wilson, a song at a time, after the birth of her twin sons. When the boys were still very small, she (along with Heart’s guitarist, Craig Bartock, who also co-wrote the songs) recorded the album in her home recording studio. For years, the children went to sleep with the music playing in their bedroom.

The ten beautiful melodic compositions, and stunning guitar work, that comprise Baby Guitars are reminiscent of Nancy’s scoring work (Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky, Elizabethtown) and, in fact, two of the songs are on Read More→

MOTLEY TOO –A Tribute Band/Interview

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on MOTLEY TOO –A Tribute Band/Interview

MOTLEY TOO Band

What is your name, and name your group/band/act?

Jay Fisher Kerry. In Hollywood they call me JFK.  Motley Too. Tribute to Motley Crue

Where are the artists from?  What is their talent in the group?

I am the singer of Motley Too. I am from Seattle Washington. The guitarist and drummer Chris and Danny Burkholder twins and they are from Idaho. My bassist Cat Jackson is from Minnesota.

How did the band get the name?

Originally the first edition of the band my bassist insisted on calling the band Sons of Satan. It was a reference made of Motley Crue and can be seen on the cover of a Decade of Decadence, a cd Motley Crue released. However I shared with him that maybe not it wasn’t such a good name since I believe a Tribute band name consist of two possible choices one being a name of the song or  different slant of the Band name itself.  I suggested if he liked Sons of Satan, we can call the band Children of the Beast which is a name of an instrumental on Motley Crue’s Album Shout at the Devil. When that band decided not to open up for Motley Crue in Vegas I decided to quit the band. I was infuriated with the situation. And I was on fire. I decided to call the band Red Hot also a song title off Shout at the Devil album. My playing in Vegas I decided to Change the name once again. I found the Name Red Hot could be construed as Menu item or possible a porno site. John Lucas a bassist who also plays in a band called Kottak with Drummer of the Scorpions James Kottak who sings and plays guitar. And ironically the drummer in this act is sister of Tommy Lee, Athena Lee. Who still emails me and says she has not seen my band yet. John my Bassist thought a great name for a Motley Crue tribute would be Motley Too. I felt that people seeing the name Motley Too would simply be associated with none other than a tribute band and would not mistaken for a Menu item such as name Red Hot.

How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before? .

There is one important point the band always makes clear that we  are simply paying homage to our heroes and we simply love to play old and new Motley Crue songs and you can witness the amazingly realistic, power-packed performance of the stage show. I believe no Motley Crue tribute band captures the note for note performance and feel of vintage Motley Crue like our band Motley Too.

Everyone loves a celebrity so what advice do you have for the youth of today?

If you gain any popularity remember that everyone is equal. I seen a lot of people going up the ladder of success and forget people who they once knew. Those are sometimes the same people who climb that ladder as well and they can easily forget you. So remember to be kind at any cost.

What does your family think of your performance and do they support you?

My Mother has always been supportive. Which I think is astounding! It’s a hard road. I remember reading about a Nikki Sixx article stating that his grandmother told Nikki to get a real job. He then brought his grandmother to view the three 40 ft semi’s that contained the groups equipment. She had no idea how successful he was.

What has been your strong influence to continue performing?

This is what I call the recession of music. I don’t think music has the same spark or flair as it did in the 80’s. I was prepared to bow out gracefully and discontinue performing in my original bands. A friend of mine Brent Fitz at the time played in Vince Neil’s solo band. He suggested I meet Vince. I asked him why? He said he thought I would be great to audition for the Motley Crue Movie. I decided to put a tribute band together to help me prepare for the movie audition. The Motley movie has not yet been produced. This is slight setback; I believe that Nikki Sixx wants this Motley movie in production. And I believe what Nikki Sixx wants Nikki Sixx gets. And by the way I was introduced to Vince. He was very genuine and down to earth. I felt we really connected.

Does anyone in particular influence your artistic/musical talent?

Contrary to popular believe people think I must be influenced by Vince Neil. Actually my biggest hero has been Nikki Sixx.  I very awe struck by him. I fascinated by him since I was a kid. He is king of rule breaking!  I admire people who shape their world around them and the world does not shape them.

If you could perform with anyone in the world, either dead or alive who would it be? Why?

Like I said we had a opportunity to play with Motley Crue and that slipped through our hands. I would have to say I would like to perform and open up for Motley Crue. I would also of course audition for the Motley Movie.

What is the furthest show from your home that you have done?

Minnesota and Mexico

GRIMSTONE Band Review/Interview

Posted by: | Comments Comments Off on GRIMSTONE Band Review/Interview

Grimstone is founded by Mark Grimstone starting the band 5 years ago. It wasn’t until this past year that Grimstone found the true connection building an energetic band.  Meeting Russ, Mark, Rob, D.K. and Mike was an unforgettable experience as these musicians leave their mark.  Their mix of music is best described by the band as “old mixed with modern day rock” giving the music their own unique style.

I asked Grimstone what makes them different then other bands. Jokingly they replied, “Some bands think they are good, and we know we are good”.  Their dreams might be similar to other bands but their personalities separate them from everyone else.  Russ’s heart-felt words of saying “It means more to us when fans applaud because they like our music then the money made at the door” leaves a positive impact on the music scene.

The written lyrics from Grimstone have an unwritten rule “No heart break, love, crap”.  In reality, the lyrics have a spiritual meaning that hits the hearts of people that believe there is a higher power, the life strengths and demons we all face.

Their best memory of the band seems to be in agreement that the Record Bar was the happening place for them.  They all smiled reflecting back with the Record Bar filled with fans, perfect sound and a flawless performance.  The next goal is to perform at Uptown Theatre and finish recording their first album!

Grimstone will be performing on November 20th at Harrah’s Voodoo in Kansas City, Missouri.  Their website is www.myspace.com/grimstonerocks.

Last Call & The Rock Show

I had the amazing experience to participate in the new video clip for Last Call & The Rock Show from Kansas City Missouri this year filmed at: HAWG WILD 6505 Neiman Shawnee, Kansas 66203. The band is featured in “Chromed Out” Magazine, “KC Nightlife”, and “Afresh Entertainment Magazine”. This band is absolutely fresh, live, real, and rock’n entertainment like you have never seen before!

The band performs a great mixture of edgy style of rock n roll cover music. They are a “real crowd pleaser”. The band doesn’t care what kind of day they may have had before taking the stage. Their ultimate goal is to bring out the “best Las Vegas Style party and stage performance” for the crowd getting everyone involved for a great time.

The members consist of Frankie on vocals and Teak on guitar with Andy lead guitar, Dave bass, Paully on drums, and Goldy on backup vocal and keyboards to build a high energy, sensational stage performance that keeps their fans begging for one more number! STONEY LARUE–an amazing artist!!!!

From Willie Nelson to Ray Charles, to The Grateful Dead and Kris Kristofferson, LaRue’s emerging style impressively blends varied elements of country, blues, and soulful rock into cohesive, vocal driven performances. Touring in The Caribbean and Europe, USA, sharing bills with renowned acts like Lee Ann Womack, Gary Allan, Dierks Bentley, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Willie Nelson, Rodney Crowell and many other greats have established Stoney LaRue as a magnificent musician and vocalist !
